T-road Solid vs. Thunderstruck Solid
« on: August 05, 2007, 02:40:50 PM »
The numbers on these two are almost identical

T-Road__________RG__________Diff
15#_____________2.57________0.046

Thunderstruck
15#_____________2.57________0.047

Is there a significant difference?  One is Reactor, the other is RS2.  The reaction charts look pretty similar, but the Storm site won't let you compare the two.  I've always had pretty good luck with this core shape, I loved my original Thunder Road, Eraser, Erase It, etc.  I want one of these for fall league, just not sure which.

I think the T-Road Solid will handle more oil. First, it has a stronger coverstock and also a different surface.

It would be interesting to me to see a polished vs. polished comparison.  That T-Road looks pretty sweet.

Sorry, I should have stated assuming surface prep was equal.  You could take the same ball, take one to 800 and the other to 4000 polish and they almost become different balls.

For what it's worth, the RS2 is a very strong coverstock, and it loves oil.

Yep ball whore here the thunderstruck solid is alot more mild in strength i have it at 1000 no polish, i have the t-road solid now at 2k no polish because it is just that strong.

The t-road solid at 1000 was burning up and it is become a very solid ball on oil at 2k, it is a few feet longer than an oob gamebreaker drilled exactly the same.

Both balls have the same rolling motion and the t-road has alittle more backend than the gamebreaker, both balls need alot of oil in the dull state they are now.

The Thunderstruck is more of consistent rolling ball that is good on mediums to lighter mediums, it is a good ball but i like both t-roads much better.

solid reactives, different cores, rg, etc

looking for a change

t-road solid is more rolly but still backend's pretty well from the higher rg, i do not love the special agent that much. I like the newer secret agent much better because it clears the heads better and backend's very well.

i finally threw my t-road solid and it is a beast compared to my TS it needs a lot of oil

That's what I was thinking with the dull R2S cover.  That's why for me personally I would want to see a polished vs. polished comparison.  I also wonder what the thing would look like polished.

With what I already have (namely the Special Agent), I think I would most likely shine this guy up.

The T-Roads are stronger, based on the Abalon finish (1000 Abralon T-Road vs 1500 Polish ThunderStruck) and then the R2S is stronger than the R as well.  And that just about does it.  Overall from what I have seen the T-Roads are awesome- but I am yet to really see a ThunderStuck

Well, its not that the ball is good looking or doesnt hook, it's that no one on my High School bowling team likes Storm as much as I do--and that's a shame!

That is a shame.  I find the best thing to do is crush them with Storm products and then they start to check them out.

jk009...let me be the first to apologize to you for not seeing a ThunderStruck in action. I guess they aren't "sexy" enough for people to run and grab one.

We live in an era where a ball must "hook" so much that we cannot score with it but we look good hooking it. These balls were slept on big time.
