Help with my Triple Xtreme
« on: February 08, 2005, 06:15:21 AM »
I have my Triple Xtreme drilled with the pin above and between the fingers.  I wanted a ball for length in my arsenal, but now I'm worried that it may go too long.  It is so angular.  Off the dry boards, this ball flies.  I need to have fresh back ends with it.  Oil and carry down kill this ball for me.  It goes so long that when it's in the oil, it doesn't move an inch...it just goes and goes and goes.  Is there something I can do to make it a more well rounded ball?  Can I sand it a little?  Should I re-drill it?  Any advice would be helpful.

The Accutread coverstock is not as strong as Monsoon so therefore you can put some surface on it and still get it through the fronts when they are a bit beat up to help get around the corner on the back end.

Putting a weight hole in the ball will reshape the core somewhat and change the flare pattern a bit on the ball depending on where you put the hole and the size and depth.(static weights don't matter all that much)

Plug and redrill with Pin under RF and RAD 1 1/2" to 2" from right edge of thumb for a right hander. left if left handed. Put weight hole on the VAL on a line running from center of grip thru CG. On medium oil, scuff with a gray scotchbrite pad and it should work on both no carry down and with carry down. On oil a bit heaver than medium, scuff the ball with a green scotchbrite pad. This ball is not made for heavy oil. Works on medium-light to a bit less than medium-heavy or me. I don't have a "lot of hand", so for people that have a lot of hand, it may do better on medium-heavy oil. I loved mine for the conditions you describe, but when I dropped to 14#, I could no longer use it so I sold it.
