Thinking about adding another Marvel Pearl
« on: October 03, 2017, 05:28:03 PM »
Added my first Marvel Pearl to my arsenal a few weeks ago .... this thing is awesome
Drilled it pin up 4-1/2 from axis with P2 hole.  Surface is box.  Would I be wasting money adding a pin down ball with a touch of surface to use on fresher shots?

I've heard the ball is great with surface. A local bowler loves his with surface and has had some 800's with it. I left the polish on mine and went pin up though so can't quite attest to it.

I'm not a big fan of knocking the polish off pearl balls, but I think that cover could handle it.  It's definitely in that "cheater ball" category with the Hyroad and Hustle Ink in my book . .

There are certain pearl covers I like with a little surface, but R2X isn't one of them. I think the Marvel Pearl is great when you have lots of friction to be aggressive and there are much better options on the fresh than scuffing this one.
