Title: Thunder Line
Post by: millertime0299 on October 26, 2012, 09:22:36 AM
Anyone know when Storm is releasing a solid in this line?  I'm guessing we're due an R2X solid with the inverted Fe3 core since the Fire Road is the R2X pearl with Fe3 core.  Right now all the balls in this line are either hybrid or pearl with the HyRoad, FireRoad, CrossRoad, and VictoryRoad.  I hope this will be the next release announcement in November.

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe they will call it the open road.

The Victory Road Solid is no longer listed on the website.

I hope they come out with an R2X polished solid to pair with the Fire Road.  It has been a while since Storm has had a good polished solid benchmark ball.  For a while that was a standard in the lineup:  Flash Force, Screamin Banshee, Thunderstruck, and then the Rapid Fire.  Since then in general it has been polished hybrids.  IMO polished solids have a unique look that when paired with a medium-strong cores create the perfect benchmark ball.

They had that type of ball, the VR Solid and no one bought it. With the success of the Manic & IQ Tour, another solid is not needed now.

I disagree.  The last polished solid benchmark ball from Storm was the Rapid Fire and on the Roto side the original Nomad.  Everything else you are mentioning come sanded and on more stable cores.  My point was that polished solids have a unique roll that is not served with the current lineup.

Before someone tells me that you can always polish a solid I'd argue that most people use box surface (I don't but I understand it) and there are even less of us can actually get those to box 1500 polished even if we wanted to.

The reason the VR Solid was unsuccessful was due to the color...plain and simple.

That was one of the ugliest and least visually appealing balls I have ever seen.

Side discussion but the ugliest ball Storm ever made was the Double Agent.  I loved how ugly that ball was!

Actually the Ugliest ball that storm has ever made was the Core Power LRG. Solid yellow, blue, and and green, looked like a regurgitation of colors going down the lane.
