Tropical Breeze questions.
« on: December 20, 2016, 01:24:16 PM »
Carbon/Chrome and the hybrid breezes, do they actually have different size core like what it shows in the pictures? And do the core sizes and cover between the two make much or little difference?

Does a round object have sides? I say yes, pizza has triangles..

Not sure which pictures you are looking at.

As far as I know, the Old Tropical Breeze (discontinued) is the exact same ball as the new Tropical Storm. (The old, old Tropical Storm uses a much different core.) They use the same shape core in 12 - 16 lb. version, with minor changes in RG and differential.

It just looks larger. The angle is slightly different. The Storm picture shows the core as if you were looking straight at it, with your eyes level with it. Buddies picture shows it as if you looking down at a 45 degree angle, from above.

I'm 99% sure that the Hybrid is only different from the pearls in the coverstock. PLUS there used to be a solid version that was discontinued shortly after the Tropical Breeze came out.

Thanks Sir,

The reason I'm asking is cause I'm not sure if it's worth getting the Hybrid if I have the pearl already. The breeze has 3000 under snake oil - didn't like the OOB. This 3k/SO allows me more length with later backend move. Some times the ball looks like it'll forget the spot, but in the last minute, it makes a move left.

I was thinking maybe the breeze hybrid has some contrast to the reaction I see currently with my breeze.

Having both the Trop. Br. Hybrid and the Ride, both of which use the hybrid version of the Reactor coverstock, having had pearl versions with other cores a few years back & having had the solid version of the Tropical Breeze, I feel that this is one resin where the different variations, pearl, solid, hybrid are truly different from one another.

Keep in mind, that this result is possibly due to my release, which is both rev dominant, and slightly lower than average ball speed. No doubt, a person who is speed dominant will not see these differences. I think a person who has matched speed and revs and another who is rev dominant, will definitely see these differences.

Neither my Ride nor my Tropical Breeze Hybrid are flippy balls, for me, when used on the conditions for which they are designed. I could get my old Solid Tropical Breeze to flip when it was finished with 3000 grit + a super high gloss polish AND when used on a short oil pattern.

Good to know ;D, I really appreciate the insight you've provided. It's suffice enough for me to make a conscience decision to add this to my collection. The trick is to conceal the transaction, or disguise it as another tool for the man.  ;D  ;D

Merry Christmas sir!

Everytime I see a post about the Breeze, I take in everything with open arms. I don't see many people throw them. But when I do, they are bowlers with a good amount of knowledge. I've been close so close to getting one yet it still has not happened. Given my success with the Reactor cover, perhaps I should just pull the trigger.

As balls go, it is incredibly inexpensive for a potentially good return on your investment. I'd say the only decision is the pearl or the hybrid. The hybrid is slightly earlier and smoother - still a great choice for light oil.
If you don't have high ball speed or if you see a lot of very light to dry oil, OR if you're rev dominant and seeing spotty conditions, the hybrid can help.
