Hey howdy,

I need your opinion and your help as I am looking for a replacement for my Roto Grip Mars for dry to med dry lanes.

My speed is 15-16 mph with medium revs (lefty) and I prefer to play betweem 10 amd 15 at the arrows. Unfortunately, I don't have other stats (pin/pap) but most of my gear is drilled pin up.

I have a RG Mars that I love.....will the Tropical Breeze with the same drilling perform similarly? If you look at the perfect scale numbers they are wildly different (Mars 169.2, Tropical Breeze 118.5). Both are high rg low diff balls.

Please let me know if I am in the right ball park or should I consider other options (Track 300T).

You can't get a much lower diff. than .009!

Yeah, I think your in the right ballpark, I find mine comes out more than I thought it would. I use it in a house that is considered on the drier side and it's really great! Very good carry and very smooth off the backend. It might be slightly weaker than your Mars, but not by much. The Reactor coverstock is a proven winner, I don't think you'll be disappointed and at that price point, you can't get a better ball on the market.

I have the breeze and Mars. I should of learned from the Mars, because I had breeze drilled with 41/2 pin up like the Mars, and it fairly strong. For dry, I have a slingshot with pin further away from pap, above middle finger, this ball keeps me in the track better than breeze.

But, the breeze is a very hard hitting piece of ball from storm. I was surprised how hard it hits for a low end ball.

Thanks to both replies....your information helps quite a bit so I will probably purchase the Tropical Breeze and drill it like my Mars and take it to 4000.

Does anyone know why the perfect scale ratings are so different for balls that are similar in performance (at least thats what I think I hear you saying)? If you look at the numbers, one would think that you get a lot less hook from the Breeze.

Would you consider purchasing the Tropical Breeze Pearl and the Solid with different drillings and surface to round out a late shift/tournament arsenal or is there too much duplication in that idea?

The "perfect scale" is just a gimmick invented by a retailer to make stuff sound great. Take that, and the fact that the scale changes along with equipment, and you can see why two "similar" balls would have different ratings, because even though they may be similar to each other, the balls they are being compared to have changed, and equipment that the Breeze is being compared to is probably stronger than the equipment the Mars was compared to. This would account for a ball with the same hook potential now to be lower on the scale than it would've been back when the Mars was out.

Hey, what about a 1-2 punch Breeze Solid and Pearl?

258 w Mars in Friday league....dropped it and it cracked big time.....wish I had a Mars Pluto combo...hence the question about 1-2 punch. I stood on 20 and fired 11 at the arrows the Mars was magic....dropped it in the parking lot and "crack" boo hoo!

Lesson learned, time for a 3 ball roller, no more see saw for the third ball.

Currently have Nomad Solid and HyRoad (both pin up due to softer speed and medium+ revs), I thought that two entry level balls with different surface and drillings would round out the arsenal....Opinions Please
