I am looking for a ball to shoot at spares with. My goal is to start throwing straight at spares(also looking for something to pick up 10 pin). I was wondering if this ball would be sufficient for this. I was thinking of this ball in case I also ran into dry lane conditions. Everything else I have is to much for dry. Will this ball be good for the straight shooting at spares/10 pin?

the tropical storm is reall under rated in hook potential unless you drill it real weak. i would go with a maxim or other plastic

The Reactor cover on the Tropicals is a new, strong cover. It's used on everything from the Tropicals through the Fire line up to the original Agent and some Banshees. Without a really weak drilling, I don't think it's your best choice for spares/dry. If you want something that's weak enough to use for spares, consider the Slate Blue Gargoyle. It will be pretty straight on any normal amount of oil and will work on drier lanes.
You might be able to use a Hit or Barbed Wire if you can find one, if you're trying to stay with Storm. Even then, I'd get a plastic ball for spares; you'll probably use it much more for spares than for dry lanes, getting a reactive ball just in case you see dry lanes could mean missing a lot of spares.

I would get a plastic personally.

This is the one true chance to really pick a ball based solely on the look of it. Don't pass it up!

I actually have a Tropical Storm & i've had to use this ball for ten pins due to my AMF Sumo thumb hole becoming tighter. I also use it for when the lanes are too dry for my Domination & it works fine.
You would need to do what i do though - Kill your wrist & fire the ball down a little faster than normal. So far, so good.
But as people have said, a ball thats not designed to move is handy.

Just got this ball the Tropical goes real long but as alot of back end!!!
I bowl on light oil at my home town. I will be using this ball alot alot...
The Hybrid goes real long but not as much back end because the cover stock is weaker. The Jolt Pearl is a very very nice ball to for light oil.
Shot 300 with Hybrid on 3/14.
I use plastic all the time for for my spares..

I honestly don't know how you guys use a Tropical Storm as a spare ball, unless there's oil in the back that makes the ball skid or you can kill the revs, which would make any ball have the capability of being a spare ball.
My Tropical Storm can be a hook monster for sure, but on heavier patterns it's almost dead straight. I can't throw it at 7 pins though, it'll give me a little bit of hook at the end of the lane that'll make me miss (I'm bad enough already!)
