trying to decide on a new ball
« on: January 27, 2010, 01:10:58 PM »
Hello,

Right now, I bowl in a league with fresh oil every week with only a VE and spare ball, 192 average 16 mph, med revs. I find that it takes a game and a half for the VE to start turning toward to pocket where I want, (somtimes have over-under issues) so I was thinking of getting a solid ball to help cut through the oil and turn sooner.  I can't make up my mind between  the VG or trying out the Reign of Fire coming out in a couple of days.  I'd like something that's an easier read and a bit more forgiving, any thoughts?

If you want a more forgiving type of ball like what you were saying, then I would go with the reign of fire

Have you tried changing your VE's surface? From what you describe, scuffing it slightly with a grey pad or applying a fresh 4.000 grit Abralon surface without polish should improve performance and control on the fresh shot.

Good suggestion on the resurfacing.  Probably sometime this weekend, I'll go up to the pro shop and see how it works out.
