THE SCHLEMER REPORT
« on: December 19, 2007, 11:58:37 PM »
I was on Storm's website and read the Schlemer Report and he was talking about something new coming soon. He said that they may have "unlocked the door to creating balls that withstand the course of time". Does anybody know if he is just referring to a new coverstock or something else?

He doesn't let on but also says he can't say anything further.  But if I had to guess it would be coverstocks.  Very interesting....

Maybe we can get Jeff Carter to bite a little into this one for us.

I also saw on the PBA site, Jeff got his deferment for this year.  I am already looking forward to seeing him win a few tournaments for storm next year.

If it's a longer-lasting coverstock, then Dynothane/900 Global is way ahead of them.

Longer lasting coverstocks? I find that odd, b/c as long as you take care of your stuff, it'll last plenty long enough until you want to replace it.

I find this really interesting, I have a erazer blaze with like around 200 games and still reacts really strong, because of me using the proper cleaner and keeping a good polish on it. But that would be nice to see storm come up with something that will last way longer, maybe a new and improved version of the original accu-tread cover? It's all about the mixture of certain ingredients and how much of each is the key.

Looking at it from a market dynamics standpoint: Ebonite is on a roll. They produce the most popoular models available. They have gobbled up competition and have stolen market share from others. The only weak point at Ebonite is the longevity of their coverstocks, especially the solids. If Storm can attain technology that would provide them with high performing and durable coverstocks, they may have a chance to stop the Ebonite titan.

Nobody has said that it's a longer lasting coverstock yet....it may be something else that you havent thought of yet. Technology never stops...it doesnt even slow down. You either evolve with it or get swallowed up by your competition. Storm has always been a leader in innovation and the R&D Team is one of the best in the business. You can be certain that every day they are working on something to bring you the best products that they can

pjr300 - Not all markets are run by the Ebonite empire. The Detroit area has been a strong market for them for quite a while now, but there are some areas of the country that you cant give an Ebonite/Hammer ball away....just the same with all labels. It all comes down to how each market receives the products and who is throwing them

Thanks Jeff... that's good to hear. I do like the current Hammer product line, but the columbia/track deal is bad for bowling IMO. It's not good to have one company with so much control.  storm is strong..... I worry about Brunswick.

Thank God for that..... We would be in really big trouble if the Ebonite Empire did run all of the markets.

Pardon my ignorance, but did Ebonite buy Track and Columbia?
