Vertigo-Carry Question?
« on: May 25, 2006, 12:01:25 PM »
Has anyone had carry issues with a Vertigo? I've plugged and redrilled one twice. First drill was 5&3/4 Pin to pap, 75 degree drilling. Left 10 pins all night long. Second drill was full roller, Pin to grip center 2" with a 25 degree backend. Again 10 pins all night. Was just beginning to wonder if anyone else had similar experiences.
                                   Thanks,
                                   Mike E

I've read that the Paradigm had good hitting power.  I think it all comes down to how you play it.

I do want to get a Vertigo in the future so please someone chime in who owns one of these.

I just got back from league where I used a Vertigo for all three games - shot 234-247-213 for a 694.  Carry was just fine - with the exception of two pocket 8s that had me scratching my head.

This ball needs oil.  If you use it on a medium or drier condition I would bet it wouldn't be all the good of carry even if you were able to figure out a reasonable line to the pocket.  If you've bought it for a medium oil shot I'd apply some polish to save up some energy.

This may sound odd, but in my experience with Storm Solid Reactives I have noticed that in OOB condition I had a tendancy to leave an inordinate amount of 10 pins until I applied polish to them.

Hope this information is helpful...........

If you are leaving weak 10's with the Vertigo, try what I did.  I moved back about 4 inches on the approach and shot the same line.  It changes when you come into the pocket.  It sets up earlier and takes the 10 out.

Thanks to all who replied. I will definitely give all your suggestions a try. This was my first storm ball and I was trying to throw it on a short oil shot. Lanes I bowl on only run the machine to the arrows (if were lucky).Seems like a medium amount, coupled with short distance, plus they never clean the backends. Can be very frustrating. Dropped 10 pins off my average this past winter on this shot but some people dropped even more.

                                  Thanks Again,
