Heavy Oil Ball Comparison...Input wanted
« on: April 05, 2006, 12:34:53 PM »
Hey all,

I currently own a 16lb storm paradigm drilled with the pin about 1" above the ring finger and a balance hole 2.5" to the right of the CG and about 4.5-5" from the pin.

I'm looking to get a ball for very heavy oil conditions. Our lanes here at the U. of Maryland tend to have very extreme conditions at many times (sometimes including absolutely no oil and at other times, 2 or 3 coats) I've narrowed my search down to 4 balls and I'd like to get some feedback on which would be best for me. I've narrowed it down to:

Storm - Paradigm Passion
Brunswick - Scorchin' Inferno
Track - Robo Rule
Roto Grip - Epic Battle

I'd especially appreciate feedback from those who have used more than one of these balls.

I tend to throw fairly hard and have had to slow down my shot at times with the paradigm in heavy oil situations.

Thanks in advance,
Rich

EDIT:

I forgot to add...I'm more of a cranker-tweener

my paradigm has 4-4.5" pin placement, 2.68oz top weight

Well, I own both the Passion and the Scorchin' Inferno! I also own the Paradigm and prior to owning the Passion and the Scorchin', I tried to use it on heavy oil conditions!  I bought the Scorchin' the day I found out that the Passion was going to be delayed for at least a month.  During that month, I used it on four different occasions and the ball handled the wet conditions very well. I would say that the Scorchin' moved at least 5-7 boards more than the Paradigm.  Well I have now owned my Passion for a couple of weeks and during that time the Scorchin' as not come out of my bag.  It moves probably another 3 - 4 boards more than the Scorchin' and for me (so far) seems to have better carrying power.  Both are excellent balls and should provide you with the equipment you require for heavy oil, but I would go with the Passion.  Good luck…

I agree from what I have seen with the above comment.

If I were looking at Brunswick for heavy oil I would be looking at the Strike Zone anyway over the Scorchin...and the Strike Zone frankly is almost direct competition for the Paradigm Passion  Assymetric heavy oil non particle.

Both great you flip!
