VG drilling help
« on: January 13, 2009, 08:05:39 AM »
Ok I just ordered the VG from my pro shop.  I am looking for some drilling suggestions from some people that know the ball. My PAP is 4 1/2 over. Speed dominant. As of lately I just cant get anything to turn the corner for me.  I have read this ball is aggressive to go with a weak drilling, but i dont want it to weak. Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you for your time.

The layout description of the thrid Virtual seems a little strange in comparison to the photo.  That looks a LOT more than 3" from his PAP.  I wonder how much this drilling changed the differential?  Jeff, if you read this, is this ball playable on Cheetah late in a block?

Sorry for the thread hijack.  Please, continue.

Well I am finally getting my v drilled tomorrow.  The only suggestion I have so far is 5 by 4 1/2  I kind of think that alit to far pin to pap with me being speed dominate. But still may give it a try.  I just dont want a useless ball that wont turn the corner. Any other suggestions?

My ball speed is between 17.5 and 18 unless I slow it down intentioanlly.  I can increase or decrease my rev rate.  My pap is 4 7/8 and 5/8 up.

I drilled two VGs and the one I like the best is a low pin (pin below the finger line) and the mb kicked right.  With my ball speed and rev rate this drilling works on med-med-heavy but will roll out if the lane dries out too soon.

The second one is drilled with the pin about one inch to the right and one inch above the ring finger and the mb kicked right.  This ball and drilling is a lot stronger on the back end and a little over under.  But the back end is very strong.

Either way the surface adjust very easily to polish or Ablaron pads.

I'm speed dominant, and I threw a Virtual Gravity once in a Storm Open House.  It had apin centered under the bridge with the mass bias directly under the thumb.  For me this is a 5 1/4" pin to PAP layout.  It was STILL too strong for me at the box finish for anything beyond a pure flood.  This ball has a very strong cover and a very strong, low RG core!
