Timeless and Torrent Video Reviews
« on: February 13, 2017, 03:26:58 PM »
Here are my video reviews for the Timeless and Torrent.  I appreciate lilpossum already sharing my Timeless video and all the positive feedback for it.  Please feel free to critique my videos and offer all the suggestions you want, I don't want to just pump out circle jerk promos, I hope my videos can be a real and significant factor in your ball buying choices.  As a staffer, it's my job to sell and promote the equipment . . but ACCURATELY sell and promote the equipment.  If it's not a good fit for you, I don't want to just say yeah, it's new, go out and buy it just to have you hate it. That doesn't help me, doesn't help the brand, and certainly doesn't help the guy or gal that just spend a couple hundred bucks on a ball that they now hate.  So like I said, critique the hell out of the videos, I just want them to be good.

Thanks for the honesty.

As an addition, you state you feel the drill was wrong for each ball.  What would you have done differently to better suit the ball to your style?  I imagine your stats are closer to the average bowler than the Belmos of the world (for the Timeless).

I think I just went too strong with the pins.  I think backing off to 5 inches would have done me just fine.  I've been practicing a lot lately, so whenever I do that, I get stronger, and my rev rate increases.  Haven't had a lot of time for practice over the last couple months, so I have trouble getting all of it at the bottom.  Drill balls stronger, get more practice in, now they're too strong LOL.  Normal stats are about 17mph, 400-425 revs, but when I don't get a lot of practice, those numbers dip.  I didn't anticipate the Timeless being that strong though, it wants to go NOW when it hits friction, I expected it to be quite a bit longer than that.  Given the numbers, I expected Hyroad with stronger backend and it's not, it's Rocket on steroids.

Again with the Torrent, I expected slightly weaker, longer and stronger Rocket Ship, which is what the numbers suggest.  I got slightly stronger, earlier and smoother Rocket Ship.  A big reason why I don't include numbers aside from layout in my videos, paying attention to the numbers is doing me no favors.  If I'd just watch the HI-SP videos that come out from Japan because they get stuff earlier than we do, if I just watch and read ball reaction and ignore the numbers, things go better.

Thanks for the honesty.

When I watch a few of the videos it reminds me of a stronger lights out, which for me was a touch earlier and a bit weaker off the spot than the Hyroad, am I imagining things?

4.5*35 would be nuts off the spot on this ball from what I've seen. Personally I would have gone 5*65 on it.

If we had oil . . which we don't.  Very high friction, very smooth reaction.  Big drill angle to get it down the lane, small val angle to get it to move on the back.  I drilled a Phaze 2 50 x 5 x 70 and it was the most awful thing I'd ever seen, it just spins and spins and does nothing.  If I go over 50 with my val angle, it's not pretty.

Torrent on oil, code black when you move in deep and swing it.
In the bag [Infinite Physix, Volatility Torque, Night Road, Phaze III, Burner Solid, Hustle AU]

Get my Torrent today.   I was hoping for a slightly stronger VR solid.  How far away is it?  Drilled 60 * 4 1/2 * 35

Unlike you I get higher volumes on newer lanes at 2 houses.

That's pretty well exactly what the Torrent is, so I think you're getting what you're after.

You were correct sir.

Same motion as a VR solid and about 3-5 boards stronger.   Not a hook monster by any means, but it fits in right where i wanted it too.

Great videos! Your honesty is appreciated. I have been following the Timeless marketing hype train since it started. I haven't pulled the trigger yet just because I want to see more bowler reviews, not marketing reviews that say all the right things. I am still holding off.
That is unless you dislike yours so much you want to send it to me! lol

Thanks again.
