Unfortunately John you are in the minority when it comes to the people viewing these videos. I completely agree with you that a comparison to an existing ball is needed in every video, its one of the only ways to help a bowler who is watching relate to what is going on simply because they dont bowl on whats being bowled on in the video. Having an existing ball in the video gives you a control that the bowler can relate to.
Unfortunately in the ball sales world, missing the headpin doesn't sell. Strikes sell. SO while online proshops and myself are doing videos we also need to keep ball sales in mind. Its tough finding a delicate balance between too technical for the average joe and providing enough data for the more advanced bowler. I like to think my videos do this, but maybe not.
Companies are very sensitive about the image that their brand and products present. When i used to do videos for every company, i made one video comparing 2 balls from 2 different companies. Lets just say chaos ensued for me and i never did that again. It wasnt pretty and i even tried to make sure that no one looked bad, but in the end it was inevitable. One company was happy that their ball hooked more, the other was pissed i showed their ball being weaker. Eventually one company even went as far as to make me promise i would NEVER compare balls between their different Brands. This is one reason i enjoy doing videos for Storm, they allow me more creative freedom than other companies did.
Anyway, Tj and I are filming the nano video tomorrow night and will be comparing to an original VG and an Anarchy. So once that is up you will be able to see a comparison.
