Fire line vs. Thunder Line

I'm looking to drill some storm stuff in the near future and I was wondering what people think of each of these lines.  To look at the statistics that are given (rg., diff., and coverstock material) the stuff from each of these lines is nearly identical:

T-road pearl (15 lbs.) - the rg is 2.57, the differential .046, and the coverstock is the R2S pearl reactive.

Rapid Fire pearl (15lbs.) - the rg is 2.57, the differential .050 and the coverstock is the R2S pearl reactive.

Although the T-Road solid and the rapid fire have different oob surface prep, the same general relationship applies (obviously with the R2S solid on each rather than the pearl)

This is one of the better questions I've seen in a long time.

In general the Twin-V balls go a little bit longer and turn harder at the breakpoint than the thunder cores with similar cover prep.  I think the reason for that is the diff. on the Twin-V, while only a bit higher, seems to shift from an unbalanced roll to a balanced roll more quickly due to the core design itself.

I liked the older fire line stuff better, particularly the spit fire, but the T-Roads are nice and appear to be more popular.  That being said I own both the HyRoad and the Rapid Fire Pearl (along with the for mentioned Spit Fire).

 I realize that drillings and surfaces can be changed, but I would agree with greene about the reactions. I would go with the which ever suits your game better.  Looking at the pros, they mostly prefer the T-Roads except for PDW.  I believe he still prefers the Fire Line.  Heck, even Duke switched once the HyRoad came out and the Spit Fire was discontinued.  But that is the Pros.

The reason duke likes the hyroad over spitfire is the fact that it is more versatile. In fact all staffers like that ball for the same reason.

The T-Road Pearl has the densest part of the core in the center and is more of a roller (end over end) finish. The Rapid Fire Pearl has that big flip block on top which does it's job hence the ball is more hockey stick finish. At least that is the way it works out for this medium speed stroker/tweener. I prefer the T-Road Pearl myself however if I had faster ball speed I would likely prefer the Rapid Fire.

Thanks for the replies.  The core stats look very similar, but core shape can make quite a bit of difference in the reaction shape, so its good to hear how the balls are actually performing on the lanes.

One quick thing - The spitfire has an inverted twin-v so it should roll a bit differently than the fired up and the current line stuff in the fire line.

I only have one of each ball: Pyro and T-Road Pearl.  While drilled completely differently, my Pyro goes longer and finishes a LOT stronger than my T-Road.  The T-Road picks up a bit sooner and has a wonderful round shape.  The Pyro has a hockey stick type reaction.
