Virtual Gravity
« on: December 23, 2008, 12:16:14 PM »
I think about trying the VG.  I am speed dominant an have a rough time getting the ball to turn the corner. I am just looking for some suggestions on a layout, I want it to be Aggressive but dont want it to burn out.( I guess thats what everyone wants)  My PAP is 4 1/2 as I have said have more speed then hand.

I also am speed dominant and have found my Virtual to be a hell of a lot longer than I expected. I have only bowled about 10 games with it outta box but so far the box is almost exactly the same as my Gravity (which I love) but just about 5 boards stronger. If you don't have any other ball comparable I would recommend this ball. Worse case scenario is you can hit it with a 2000 or 1000 pad to cause it to check up sooner.

I would suggest going with a strong layout. Do not go with a weak layout for sure if you are speed dominant.

I am speed dominant also.  I am probably going to bring my VG down to a used 2000 ab pad by hand & try that.  The carry when I hit the pocket has been tremendous so for in the out of box.  I'm thinking that the used pad will give it just a bit more earlier bite.

Mine's a 4" X 3&1/2" putting the pin just right & above ring, CG kicked right w/a balance hole just past my pap.  At 4000 ab, this ball goes long on fresh.  So I'd go aggressive if I's you.  JMO.

For me it matters what I'm bowling on.  I bought this ball to be a true oiler, to use on longer sport patterns, the Shark, and the Scorpion.  I bowl in two leagues, one on synthetics, and one on a chopped up Guardian.  I got a decent reaction on the synthetics, but they never really throw out enough oil to justify using this ball.  I find much more success throwing a little straighter with a pin down pearl ball.  And on the guardian... forget about it.  It burns out before it even reaches the breakpoint.  This definitely needs some oil up front to perform to its expectations.  I have my Virtual drilled 4 x 4, and this will be a tournament ball, no use wasting it on a shot it wasn't meant for.

My pap is 4 X 7/8. Mine is drilled with the pin under the ring finger and the mass bias kicked out to the right and below the thumb about 4 inches.
