Rapid Fire Pearl Or Cell Pearl
« on: November 03, 2008, 12:50:48 AM »
My wife needs a ball to go to when the lanes dry up a bit. She is currently using a Cell and she has a Psycho drilled pin up. When the lanes get too dry for the Cell she goes to the Psycho but has a hard time getting it to react. She is more of a down and in bowler with slower ball speed (12-13 MPH) and I though the Psycho would be good for her but it just doesn't react well. I am thinking about getting her either a Rapid Fire Pearl or a Cell Pearl. Has anybody thrown these 2 and would it be a better go to ball over the Psycho? She used to have an X-Factor which she loved that's why I'm thinking of a Rapid Fire Pearl.

Thanks in advance

I think the question is why is her reaction with the Psycho not very good?  Is it going too long?  Is it giving her an over/under look?  Have you tried changing the cover on it?

(And for the record, I would actually say the Cell Pearl or Gravity Shift is a lot more similar to the X-Factor than the Rapid Fire Pearl)

When you say she is having a hard time getting the Pyscho to react, I will assume you mean that she cannot get the ball the flip on the backend.  From what I have seen, the Psycho tends to react better with pin down drillings and with some surface.  IMO, the ball OOB with a pin up drilling would be very hard to get the ball to corner for most people.  I would suggest trying surface or even redrilling the ball with an earlier layout.

I have thrown the Cell Pearl and the Rapid Fire Pearl.  I think that the Cell Pearl is better to open up the lanes and bump the friction, and the RFP is better when cutting the heads fairly straight.

Hope this answers some question.

Thanks for the info. I am talking her into a new ball to get the Psycho for myself since she hasn't had much luck with it
