Virtual Gravity replace....?
« on: December 16, 2010, 01:04:51 AM »
Hey....stormites...

I have not been following but I''m sure there has been a post like this.

What is the replacement for the Virtual Gravity....?

In the Storm line or Close out of it?

The closest I have seen in a little bit of gandering has been the Full Swing and my No Mercy Beatn..

Regards,

According to the write up on the Marvel, it''s the ball..If it is, I am in!

Storm Marvel

- COLOR: Teal/Sky Blue/Black
- COVERSTOCK: R2X Solid Reactive
- CORE: Centripetal
- FACTORY FINISH: 2000-grit Abralon
- FRAGRANCE:Aromatherapy - Performance
- RECOMMENED LANE CONDITION: Heavy Oil
- RG: 16#-2.48, 15#-2.48, 14#-2.53, 13#-2.59, 12#-2.65
- DIFFERENTIAL: 16#-.052, 15#-.050, 14#-.049, 13#-.045, 12#-.035
- DESCRIPTION: With the next Prodigy- the Marvel, the intent is to create a motion that is more aggressive, especially in oil, than the original version. Looking at the success of the original Virtual Gravityâ„¢, it‟s clear that bowlers love to see a strong midlane roll that doesn‟t quit on the backend, so that is our goal!

Agreed, until Storm announces a direct replacement, get another one before they are gone. A heavy oil ball with that much backend is hard to come by. Maybe taking a Theory to 4000 grit would get you close? I haven''t seen anyone compare the two, hopefully someone can chime in that has. I have a Mission, and the concept is similar to my old Virtual Gravity, but I can tell that the Mission has pearl in it and skids a bit more than the solid VG. Some have suggested a Track 715t, but who knows, maybe a 916AT?. Good luck on your search!

Take a look at the track 715T if you're ok with other brands.  Have thrown both, 715T has same shape, a little stronger off spot and a little more total hook..from my exp.

For the price you can't beat the 715T, and it is a great replacement for the Virtual Gravity while still being stronger at the spot. If you want a lot of ball the 916AT is almost obnoxious in how much it hooks throughout the lane. It's one of the few balls I've thrown stronger than the 715T. For me it's almost like the Invasion...I just don't know where I would be able to throw it.

I purchased a 715T to replace my Virtual and couldnt be happier!! Surface at 2000Ab is just as strong off the spot. I think it also takes cover changes better than Virtual. I was/am a huge Virtual fan but this 715T is an awesome ball!

the virtual gravity is in the line up until the end of the bowling season(may) so every distributor should still have some instock and if not they can order it with there regular storm order for you. you shouldnt have any trouble getting one or six.

I'm going with everyone else here, you can still buy another VG so that's what I would do if you like this ball so much.  The Full Swing for me is longer and more angular than the Virtual Gravity with a similar layout.  The Marvel will have the same cover as the VG but the core is slightly different and symmetrical.  I don't think anything else in the Storm or Roto lines will be close to it.  If you don't mind Ebonite, I'd take a look at the Mission.

Track's 916AT is kinda close. real strong movement with very versatile surface.

The Mission is Ebonites answer to the Virtual Gravity, according to an Ebonite Staffer when Ebonite was testing the Mission last year there goal was to create a ball that was just like Storms Virtual Gravity.  The story goes Ebonite National Staffers got to drill up several Virtual Gravity and got to test them against the Mission test balls according to a friend of a friend of a friend a certain Ebonite Staffer was throwing the Virtual Gravity in Hopkinsville and said Quote "WOW" no wonder everybody loves this ball and no wonder Storm is winning everything, so Ebonite tried to create a ball that is as similar to the Virtual Gravity.  It's no secret on tour that all of the company's are trying to stay up with Storm.  They have been dominant on tour the last several years, people can argue that well if you have Pete Weber and Norm Duke signed then you will win alot anyway, that's true but when MoRich dropped the National Tour Walter Ray drilled up Virtuals and threw them alot before signing with global the problem was I think Storm didn't want to pay him what he was asking and Global was willing.  Of Course he's with Track now so...there ya go.  And this isn't to start problems on here it's just what I know you guys can take it for what it's worth.
