New Ball for Wife
« on: April 10, 2009, 12:36:22 AM »
I'm looking for another ball for my wife, she's been bowling about two years(avg 160). Her first real ball was a Tropical and the second is a Dimension. She has one end of the spectrum or the other with nothing in between. We typically bowl on a house shot with medium oil. She plays down and in just inside the first arrow. 13.5 to 14 mph. We put a little polish on the Dimension and that has worked well for her. I was thinking something in a pearl, maybe a T-road or a Rapid Fire. Any advise would be appreciated.

Without knowing much more information, I would consider looking more towards a ball in the Hot Line, Street Rod Pearl or Solid. Consult your pro shop operator so  they can take a look at her game to more accurately suggest a ball than anyone on here could without seeing her bowl.

Thanks for the suggestions. I guess I didn't give much info but in any case she stays behind the ball well and has good solid rotation, medium revs I would say Both balls have a high track on them. The problem in my very inexperienced opinion is her Dimension loses it's energy and rolls out. Her ball speed and our house conditions have a lot to do with that.

I really wished that we had a local pro shop but we don't. We do have a young man who is giving it his best shot, he is a fantastic bowler, but is still learning. Most bowlers in our area drive two hours into the city for their equipment.

If I understand what you are saying she is using a lightly polished Dimension (layout unknown) and it is rolling out and hitting weak by the time it gets to the pocket.  Assuming that is true I would get one of the milder pearls (if Storm even has any) and drill it with pin up around 5" from PAP.  I'd take a serious look at the Street Rod Pearl for that need.  Any of the thunder or fire balls will very likely turn a bit more than she would want.
