The ball had well over 100 games on it when I had it resurfaced a few weeks ago.  I don't know if they put too much polish on it, but it seems to be going down the lane like it was just soaked in water.  Slide, slide, slide. 

 

I have a 1000 grit abralon pad in my bag and was wondering: if I lightly scuff it up before league tonight, could that help?

 

If so, any tips?  I want to get it rolling again for my Monday night house shot league.  It had been my favorite ball of all time until it's disappointing 2012 thus far.

It couldn't hurt to knock some of the polish off of the ball. It'll get the ball to start up earlier and not skid so far down the lane. You could lightly hit it with the pad you have or simply take it into the pro shop and give it a minute on the spinner with a 4000 pad. Did you also have the ball baked or oil drained out of the ball? I've found that balls sometimes take some surface adjustment and lane wear to get back to rolling like they did before a resurface. Often times they were never fully restored to the way they were before the work. Buddies pro shop is selling NIB reign supremes for $100 shipped, might be your last chance to get these assuming you throw 15 pounds... Plus they're cheap.

Just for future reference, make sure you tell the person doing the resurfacing what the final surface is suppose to be.  I have had many instances where I had a ball resurfaced only to find out the default resurface meant 500/1000/2000/4000/polish.  The Reign Supreme is 1500/polish so I am willing to bet the underlying grit is higher than 1500 and the polish wasn't applied in a similar manner as factory. 

The bowler needs to know what they want from a resurface and not leave it up to the pro shop.  If you asked for back to factory and they reproduced it to the best of their ability, then something else could be up.  But too often I see pro shops doing a standard resurface if not specified by the bowler.
