What is the best ball out RIGHT NOW?
« on: March 21, 2012, 04:41:20 PM »
What do you think the best all around ball is out right now.

Normal house shot, first ball out of the bag.

Those who can't bowl, bowl with two hands.

All of them are the greatest... on the intended condition. I am sure that my Break S75 is not as awesome on the burn as it is on the fresh. Opposite way for my Link. Sure wouldn't be the first ball I would use on the fresh, but when they're broken down, watch out.

Also, what's normal in your area? I know here in Chicagoland, we probably see more oil than you on the east coast.

Just saying, you have to qualify what condition it needs to meet.

I'm seeing great results with the Versa-Max from Brunswick.  Ordered a 2nd one just a couple days ago.  It can be really clean through the fronts and very smooth/controllable reaction on the backend.  The 2nd one I intend on going pin down to get it to pick up the lane a little sooner.  Just a great out of the bag ball.  Play deep, play straight.  It plays well on just about everything I've encountered.

For Myself a Low Rev Stroker, I just bought the Defiant and had it drilled strong, for me it's the 1st ball out of the bag and my benchmark ball, I am still getting use to the ball as my "A" game is down and in, with this ball once I burns up a spot I have to move more inside than I care to, I am working on that part of my game and still getting use to having to play that shot.

Arsenal:  Defiant

              Prodigy

If your throwing the ball good anything will work. If your not then it probably wont matter.

Personally, when looking for an every week ball I typically go for a benchmark style of bowling ball. If at all possible I prefer a hybrid coverstock as it allows you the most options in terms of surface adjustments should you need to really fine toon a reaction.

Of the balls our right now, pick any of these and you should be fine:

The Nuts - 900 Global

Hellraiser - DV8

Arson - Hammer

QZ2 Quadfire - Motiv

Infinite Theory - Rotogrip

Rising Star - Rotogrip

Frantic - Storm (my second choice)

716C - Track (my personal favorite)

HEY!

I like the Clutch solid also!  Great on my THS!

I like it enough I have a second one coming.  The first is pin down and ALL midlane, the second will have the pin closer to the ring finger and ad just a touch of backend!

I hope that's the case....as I'm picking up my new 716C in a few hours. Sticking with Track, I would say the 607A  is the ball I would use week in, week out....

Off topic, but Lucky, you owe it to yourself to get a Clutch Pearl. Trust me on this one. I think tekneek has them for sale.

Just drilled a fresh AMF VP2....great ball then, great ball now. Tackles the mids great and can handle the majority of conditions except for bone dry and Exxon Valdez oil slick.

My answer is D) All of the above

Every ball now is "good"....just depends on who you are and what you're throwing it on.  What works for me with my ball roll on my house shot won't work for someone who knuckles it up the outside on a house shot that is an oil

For the last month I've been out of (bowling) action with a hurting left thigh ..just before the problem I was down to two balls in three different houses .. They covered everything I faced (never had heavy oil) .. Motiv Cruel and Impulse. Beside being good balls I didn't pay $150 for the un-drilled balls!
