virtual gravity @ 1000 abralon
« on: March 24, 2009, 02:16:53 PM »
goin to springfield this weekend and want something really aggressive just in case. i have thought about putting my vg at 1000 abralon. i also have a twisted fury solid at 3000 that works well on most slick house shots. i just don't want to go up there with the same surface on everything. any suggestions.

How is it drilled?  Sometimes an aggressive drill with an aggressive surface prep will lead to burn out regardless of how much oil is out there.

1000 will be fine with that drilling, especially with your ball speed.  The pin is high enough to help push it down the lane and save enough energy to help you carry.

This might be too late since you're bowling this weekend...

From what I've seen the Twisted Solid rolls early with not much on the backend. If you take a VG to 1000 you might get a similar reaction.

If you're going to take the VG to 1000 I recommend trying it and see if you like it before you bowl. IMO you're taking a big gamble if you don't try out a surface adjustment before you bowl a tournament. I found that out the hard way.

I took mine to 1000 for Nationals and wish I hadn't done it. I think it just led to it burn out like DanH78 said. Weak 7's and 10's from it rolling too early and not finishing. If I adjusted for it I left the 4 pin. It just rolled like crap. I kept it at 1000 when I came back to see how it worked in my Thurs. night league that puts out oil and I got the same result. 2000 abralon shined seems to work best for me. The 4000 shined OOB didn't allow me to move in with the shot and keep carry which is why I went with 2000. Like you I have avg. to slightly above avg. revs and throw 17mph. My Virtual is pin down, 30x3.75x60 with the MB on my VAL.

Good luck in Springfield and let us know how it went.
