What New Storm ball Matches Up to Erase-it Best???
« on: December 21, 2003, 03:51:57 AM »
OK Storm fantatics.  What new line Storm ball matches up to their old Erase-It?

I am thinking X-Factor but have never rolled one nor seen many X-Factors up close.

Here's my comparison of all the specs that I know.

Storm Erase-It
Cover--Accutread Reactive 600 grit out of box keep mine now 1000 smooth with coat of Doc's Elixr on top.
Core--Modified Thunder Road with Power Ball Technology
RG--2.539
Differential--.050

Storm X-Factor
Cover--ACCU-Tread Mystic Pearl Reactive 1500 grit polished out of box.
Core--RADâ„¢ Motion Controlâ„¢ Technology
RG--2.53
Differential--.058

My PAP is 4 7/8 over and 1/2 up.  My old Erase-It is a 15 lber. with a 3" pin. drilled as a label shift 4x4 with an X-hole at 5 1/2"s below my PAP on the VAL  MB is right of my thumb next to it as you look at label.  This ball for me with my A game technique which is more side roll is a very nice back end but hard move to 1-3 pocket on most lane conditions.  More skid snap not early rolling.  Gives me wider area to play as heads break down and I move into lane.  Normally this ball matches up better for me many.

I'd like to know what newer Storm ball if not the X-Factor matches up to my old Storm Erase-It.  Any ideas Storm guys?  I'd like to hear your opinions.
Need anymore info. let me know.

Thanks,
Scott

The new Power charge is more like the Erase-it in terms of reaction. The X is a great ball but can be a bit more on the touchy side. I don't believe you could go wrong with either with the correct drill patterns.

Try asking Hugh Miller: hughmillerbowling@hotmail.com

From his tournament notes, the Erase-It seems to be his favorite ball, and as a Storm staffer, he should know what reacts most like the Erase-It.

Thanks seadrive.  I noticed Hugh uses them a lot.  I'll drop him an e-mail.

Anyone else have any ideas?

An X-Factor Deuce (solid resin) would be similar, but more aggressive.  I'd agree that the Power Charge would be a close match as well.

I would think the Particle Pearl, drilled to match your favorite layout used on the Erase-it and then adjust the surface. I have two PP Erasers and plan to buy a third. The first is drilled with pin over ring finger Cg towards PAP 1", the second pin under ring and CG stacked. The third when I pick it up my plan is a 2 3/4" or 3" pin and CG at 1:30 (std label drilling). I also have the Power Charge, HOt Wire, couple Erasers, and several other Storm balls. I think the only way to truly match an Eraser line ball is with another ball from that line.

Hey all,

I am bringing this topic back from the holidays.  I heard from Hugh Miller and thought I'd post for all to see about my original question.

"Scott,

Thanks for checking out the site.  We just did some updates.  As far as the
erase-it is concerned, I have replaced my old erase-it's with new ones.
Unfortunately, Storm discontinued making it.  The replacement is the paricle
eraser.  It goes a bit longer and snaps more in the backend.  Probably OK
for a righty, but not always what I am looking for.  The new power charge is
pretty close.

    Thanks,

    Hugh Miller"

I would think a Super Charge would be fairly similar to the Erase It, your mileage may vary.  Eraser Particle Pearl is kinda close too.

You might wait for the Razor Wire to come out.  Razor Wire will be out in a few weeks.  Barbed Wire is too long.  Eraser Boost was a little mellower than Erase It.

Good to hear from you El-Duce.  How's bowling in Milwaukee?  Same in Madison for me.  Dang it.......shot 663 tonite with a 7-10 split 10th frame first ball last game with my old faithful Storm Erase-It.

Hugh maybe a lefty but he should know better than anyone.

I would say Super Charge, EPP, or the Duece....I don't see the Power Charge being close....a complement to the Erase-it, yes, but not a replacement....

it's a pearl LOW rg......less flare

In agreement with Mike Austin and El Mongo!

Supercharge same move very controllable,  Maybe a little more bite.
Great ball.  X factor deuce a touch more on the backend than SuperCharge.
