Ric,
As to whether or not it can handle the carrydown will depend on all the factors involved. Its stock cover is 600 grit dull; although it is urethane, that cover is very hard. It did handle carrydown, in both dull and in polished form for me. With its stock cover you do NOT need to kick out the CG. This ball is not a resin and does not act like one until you put a gloss polish on it. I suspect you will not do that.
It is a urethane with tons of flare; think of it as a particle ball, IF YOU KEPP IT AT 600 or maybe even at 1000 grit dull. It will try to go into a roll fairly early.
Having owned a TF and TF Pro, I would not be personaly inclined to placing the pin above the bridge unless I intended to polish it up a lot. Remember that placing the pin above the bridge is just a way of increasing the RG of the drilled ball, which, in turn, increases the length and reduces the hook transition phase time.
I had bought it a ball for medium to medium light conditions. It turned out to be for medium-heavy oil patterns. Once I sanded it to 1000 grit and polished it to 300 grit, I found it barely useful for medium oil. (FYI I use a Lane#1 Pro Purple Buzzsaw, a particle pearl, and Track VooDoo for medium heavy oil.)
