Where would the !Q Tour Pearl fit?
« on: February 12, 2013, 02:58:35 PM »
So I know that I'm getting close to having too many balls, but I've got the itch lately to pick up the !QTP. So here's what I have right now, just wondering where this ball would it in...

Brutal Nightmare
Pink Panther
Innovate
Misfit Pearl.

I assume that the !Q would basically kick the innovate out of my bag, is that about right? Lmk.

Pretty much unless you want to make use of it by changing the surface drastically. If so, take it down to 500 and then 3000. Of course it doesn't have to be this exact surface but this will give you a much different look. But honesty, I suggest the the is tour solid instead of the pearl. You've already got 3 pearls in your bag. And two of them are pretty strong. Plus, you don't have a benchmark type look unless you have exotic layouts on one of them.

The only worry I have about the tour solid is that I'll get overlap with that and the pink panther. Replacing the innovate isn't out of the question, replacing the pink panther is. Kind of my old faithful go to ball.

I recognize that I don't have much of a need for the pearl, but Literally everything that I hear about it is good, so it's hard to avoid wanting it. Lol.

I'll give you one caveat on the IQ Tour Pearl. It's very skid-flip, so managing your angles is very important. Sure, you get some fun messengers when the ball comes ripping back, but you also get some nasty leaves as the ball goes knifing through sideways! I put it away last night after leaving a 4-6 and 4-9 on consecutive shots that I thought looked pretty good as they entered the 1-3. The ball gets sideways on the backend! Now, I'm not trying to steer you away from it because I do think it's a very nice ball, but I figured I'd play devil's advocate for you! lol

Lol well Gene, I appreciate it. Honestly, I haven't had a storm ball in so long, and you hear enough good about a company you kinda just want to try something. Maybe a better question would be which ball should I try?

I'm not worried asuch about a ball fitting as I am about getting a great ball. Even balls that overlap each other can be worlds apart in hit, carry, and just confidence in general. So if you guys were going to recommend a ball what would it be?

The house I normally bowl at is 41ft, and the backend there is pretty weak for whatever reason. I'd say as far as volume goes they're on the heavy side of medium. I'm medium speed medium-high revs.

I'm basically throwing all Storm right now, and I can tell you that most of their current line is top notch. I would suggest either a Lucid or a Frantic. I really feel like I can tackle just about anything with these two. If your house has weak backends, the Lucid would probably be the better call. It revs up nicely and just wrecks the pocket. The ball is stupid-good. The only negative to it for me is that it shines up super quick. Still, hit it with a cleaner and some abralon, and you're right back where you want to be.

The Frantic is also excellent. I find it best on mediums, but you can find use for it on heavy as long as the backends are clean. I fired an honor score the first night out with mine, and I didn't put it down for three months thereafter. It's just a great all-around ball.

I don't think you can go wrong with either. Really, everything I have from Storm - Vivid, Lucid, Mod. Marvel, Frantic, IQ Tour Pearl, and Crossroad - is really good. It's just a matter of what you're looking for in terms of shot shape and conditions.

Hey Gene,

How is your frantic drilled? Mine has a much weaker layout so I'm sure I am not using this ball's true power. I am considering getting another frantic and drilling it stronger. This ball is really that good. This is my most versatile ball right now.

I don't recall the layout off the top of my head, but I keep things fairly simple. I think the Frantic is pin up above ring, cg basically stacked below. That would make it something like 4.5 X 4 or so for me. You hit the nail right on the head with the Frantic's versatility. I feel I can throw that one on everything short of dirt and a 60-foot flood!
