Title: Which Current Storm Ball is Closest to the Virtual Gravity?
Post by: ccrider on June 08, 2012, 08:37:16 AM
I have tried two Nanos and they do not roll the same. For me, the Marvel was closer. How does the Modern Marvel compare? I know it has a symmetrical core which generally will lead to a smoother overall motion.

A bit off the OP (Sorry cc), but will there be a Virtual Energy Nano?

I was thinking and hoping the same as you Milo.  The only problem is that the Nano is crap compared to the original VG.  The original was versatile, the Nano needs more head oil than spilled out of the Exxon Valdez and without it burns up like crazy.  I don't want to polish it because I have other pieces for that.  I've had mine since it came out and maybe have 30 games on it.  I'm starting to think that if they did make the VE Nano, I would again be disappointed.  There's nothing like the original.  (That's why I have two VE's tucked in the basement and an original VG as well!)

I'm with you on the VE. About the best ball I have used. I have two that I use, one single drill I just purchased and a NIB for a rainy day. The original VG never really worked for me (although I did shoot a 247 at the Open in Vegas with it), but the VE is just a great match up. I haven't tried the Nano though, just seems like too much ball for me.

If you liked the VG and the VE you would want to match core / cover the best you can.  The Marvel and the Modern Marvel, while the cores are symmetric compared to the VG/VE asymmetric core, are the closest by far.  The cover is R2X / R2X Hybrid.  The balls have the same RG (2.48) and a bit more diff (.052 compared to .048).  The cover prep is different too, but you can always tweek that.
