Title: why Anarchy over Nano?
Post by: ocbowler on August 13, 2011, 12:59:58 PM
Since my best release is with hand on the side of ball I often struggle in heavy oil: too many washouts. I wanted to get the Nano but when I tried the "matchmaker" in Storm's site they recommend the Anarchy with "pearl" cover; instead of the Nano.

Can this be right? I have not used a pearl for heavy oil in a long time.

If your ball speed is on the slower side or if you're very rev dominant, the Anarachy, a polished very strong asymmetric pearl, will chosen over the Nano, a very strong dull, asymmetric solid.

Also, for what it's worth, the Matchmaker on their website is pretty useless in my opinion. Its suggestions never match up with what actually works well for me on particular conditions it seems.

Totally worthless, stick with pro shop advice and/or someone who knows your game.

For heavier oil I'd go with the Nano.  As long as your ball driller knows your game you should have no trouble making it work. By the way, the Nano is very strong with polish on it should it read the lane earlier than desired.

Thanks so much for your advice! I agree with you.

Just tried and had some success with a soft open hand release for heavy oil and I'll work on it a little more and see.

Thanks again!

The anarchy is a VERY strong ball for a pearl, and is a little more versatile than the nano IMO.

I own both, and they compliment each other fairly well. The nano is great on fresh oil shots. Once the shot breaks down, I can use the anarchy down the same line. Both balls have great recovery.

I own both a Nano and an Anarchy and while the Nano is great on heavier volumes and the fresh, the Anarchy is definitely  more versatile as it can handle the medium-heavy conditions pretty easily.

Either ball can be drilled a variety of ways.  I've used both playing straight up the outside and moving deep.  In all cases, both work really well.  I would listen to the pro shop rather than the matchmaker because it has given me choices that don't make a ton of sense.

My arsenal

Heavy Oil: Storm Virtual Gravity Nano: 2000 AB
Medium-Heavy Oil: Storm Anarchy: 1500 polished
Medium Oil: Roto Grip Nomad Dagger: 1500 polished

Medium-Light Oil: Roto Grip Rising Star: 1500 polished
