I think it's still pretty popular with tour players, but that doesn't always mean much.  Something else has to be coming in that line though, it's virtually empty. 

Phase 11 is a very under appreciated ball in my opinion.  It gives me a different look than strong solids like the Alpha Crux or strong pearls like my No Rules Pearl.  One of the few balls that is at home on a house wall and is good on flatter patterns of varying length.

I'm so tempted to try one. I also wonder if it's worth having in the same bag as a RocketShip. What differences do you note between it and say the Alpha Crux or No Rules Pearl?

Alpha Crux is more jumpy off the end of the oil.  No Rules pearl is very rolly, but more angular off the end off the oil.  phase 2 is also rolly but the look almost reminds me of the old particle balls, but with better continuation.  Great core shell matchup.  If anyone is looking for me to call it stronger or weaker than the other two you won't get it here.  There are times when I get a better look from my nrp, and times I get a better look from the Phase 2.

What layout and surface have you found to be successful on house shots with it? The Alpha Crux is another ball I wish I would have tried while it was still in production.

I had two Phaze 2s and that cover is so high maintenance that I didn't throw either of them long.  Good ball, but that cover liked fuzzy boots and pumpkin pie spiced lattes.

Would hitting it with a 2k pad or whatever surface you liked on it, every 15-20 games suffice?

I have had my phase 2 since March.  I hit it with 2000 for the second time in that span. Nothing else.  Like all solids the Phase 2 is going to tame down from box condition.  The thing I like about the ball is that it is still very effective even though you may not be able to open up the lane as much after you get some games on it.  I used mine in doubles and singles at nationals, and had an incredible carry percentage playing about 17 out to 10 by the end of singles.  I also used it in a local tournament on the Viper pattern playing between 5 and 10 board with very good luck. 

Phase is drilled pin down below fingers on grip line.  Left it in box condition.  Alpha Crux drilled with pin above the fingers on grip line.  Tried everything from box condition to 4000 with polish on it.  Never really hit a condition where it distinguished itself for carry.  No rules pearl is drilled the same as the Crux, and left in box condition.  I like it on long patterns where I can move in and find a little hold and not try to over use my swing area.
