storm bowlers If you had to create
« on: June 18, 2009, 02:25:06 AM »
Hey everyone I would like to pick at your brains a little bit. I have been mulling over what kind of arsenal I want to put together for the upcoming season and looking for some input. I bowl in thee houses one which is wood and use short oil Lots of backend. The other house is is synthetic pro anvilane surface with medium oil 40ft medium backends. Old wood lanes on sport patterns break down real fast . my game use to be about power and revs now its all about accuracy as after a couple of arm surgeries i cannot play the power game any more style is tweener speed is around 15mph not sure what my rev rate is anymore and I track high on the ball. Average is down to around 210 on house shots and 191 on sport patterns. I use to throw storms a while back like the trauma , x factors. Last ball i had was a fired up (loved that ball) then I switched to brunswick and now im coming back. Looking for 5 ball arsenal any recomendations would help old or new thanks

It doesnt seem like you need to carry very strong equipment with you, So...
I'd suggest

Hyrpad
Furious
Fast
The Natural(just about to come out) for the old wood lanes and short oil

You could also throw in a Dimension, but you would probably only use it on rare occassions from the sound of things

My Arsenal:
Rogue Cell (coming soon)
Bounty(4.5 x 4.75 Fresh 1000 Abralon)
Twisted Fury(5 x 4 500 Abralon + Reacta Shine)
Raw Hammer Pain(Leverage 1000 Abralon)
Blue Vibe(5 x 5 4000 Abralon + Reacta Shine)

You HAVE to have a Hyroad in there.  Hyroad is a must for any type of medium condition and/or sports pattern.  Would probably be great for you on the slightly longer patterns on the wood (chameleon, scorpion, might also get away with it on Viper.)

Why not have 1 strong ball in there?  He says he plays "sport patterns" & has a "191 avg." on them.  Mike Machuga won a tournament with a VG & wasn't putting a ton of revs on it.  He actually played a straighter line.  He asked for a 5 ball arsenal anyway, so the VG, HyRoad & maybe the new "Reign" which is a pearl might be a good start & then throw in a furious & a spare ball he would be set.

Thanks for the ideas. I am thinking about also going to go out and do some tournaments again. Heres what im thinking
1. Virtual gravity - for heavy oil
2. Virtual energy - for long oil but lighter volume
3. Hy road - for medium patterns and flatter patterns
4. Reign -  medium to light patterns
5. fast - for light oil or maybe another fired up if i can get one nib
6. natural  for my short oil league and for when they get burnt
7. already have my spare ball ( united states marine ball hoorah)
so maybe ill add one more what ya think. Any input can be good information would like to hear from britton and see what the ball mack himself has to say thanks guys

Sure ill throw in my 2 cents Slipperyworm

2 balls that are a must...Virtual Gravity for the heavier volumes and hy-road as your benchmark.

A virtual energy will fit in nicely in between those two.  You could also go with a 2nd dimension laid out stronger than your hyroad if you prefer symmetrical cores.

go with a rapid fire pearl, fast, or street rod pearl for a ball under the hyroad.

last but not least a natural for the short oil and light volume patterns

So:

Virtual Gravity
Virtual Energy / 2nd Dimension
Hy-Road
Rapid Fire Pearl / Fast / Street Rod Pearl
Natural

Hope that helps!  I dont really know much about the Reign yet so im not sure where that would fit.

Since you play in houses with clean backends I would stay away from the Virtual Gravity instead go with the Virtual Energy.

Newer Stuff
1) Virtual Energy
2) Hyroad
3) Furious
4) Fast
5) Natural

Mix of New and Old

1) Virtual Energy
2) Hyroad
3) Street Rod solid
4) Spitfire
5) Natural
