Any suggestions?   We are trying kitty litter, as i type.

If it is actually dead, what is a good replacement?

I had mine resurfaced, and did the hook-again treatment.

I then set it aside (in my magic closet, as some folks have called it), and it seemed to come back somewhat. Unfortunately, I think that revival was somewhat short lived. I've set it aside again - I'll probably pull it out in a couple of weeks.

thanks Mumzie.

It has been resurfaced.  That is what seems to have killed it. I did not resurface it, i am just trying to get advice for my teammate.  I think it was resurfaced with scotch brite, a spinner, and then hit with quick cut.(I think he said)

Accu Tread has tiny pores you may have to start with a more aggressive sand paper to really get all the dirt and oil out of the coverstock.
After sanding with like 320 or so wipe it down with a good ball cleaner. THen finish to your desired finish.
