Now what?
« on: October 24, 2004, 01:41:15 PM »
I am looking for a storm ball which would be good for med oil to heavy oil because I've a El Nino Premium Edition that hooks far too much for me. That's why I'm getting a shine ball for heavy condition. Currently i've heaving a Roto SSP for med to light conditions.

2 balls came to my mine is Recharge and Eraser PBT .. 1 is reactive and 1 is particle covertstock.

Oh ya, I'm looking for mid end balls only, high end balls would be too sensitive for me

Of the 2 you listed the Eraser Particle Pearl would the the better choice in my opinion. I don't really think the Recharge would be strong enough beyond Medium.
Giving some details about your style would help.
Speed?
Revs?
Tilt?
Rotation?
Prefered line?

Yes, it is hard to help you when you do not give out information about your style. Maybe the depth charge, this ball is very versatile I have heard. And what is an El Nino Premium? I have heard and know about the El Nino Premier, but never this one...

Erm, sorry for not providing information.

I'm a lefty with medium speed and revs, rotation and tilt wise, not sure.
My prefered line would be 5 boards straight down to pocket.

Hm, just saw another ball to add into my choices which is Saw blade. LOLs.

Maelstrom Psi, my fault. It's El Nino Premier.

Anyone to recommend me some? I thought depth charge is more for medium ?

Well, I have seen the depth charge many times, and I really find it hard to beleive this ball is for medium oil. I have seen one of my friends on the tour use this, and it hooks plently on medium-heavy oil patterns and up, not to mention with the Pro Thane LT Plus and the LRG core with a charge disc, I cant beleive this ball won't handle more than medium.

One more thing is that you may have a hard time staying with storm under these conditions. For example, the formula may be a good choice for this, as it is a solid, shiny particle ball and has a good amount of hook. And as you mentioned, the saw blade would most likely be a good choice too.

The Depth is stronger than the Recharge but with the line you prefer I don't think the Depth would be a good choice IMO due to it LOW rg. I am pretty sure that it would hook to early. The Recharge may be a good choice for straight up the 5 board.
If you would like to find out what your Axis rotation and Tilt are it is quit easy.
Rotation: Place a piece of tape on your PAP and have someone watch you bowl so they can see where the tape is pointing in the first few feet of the lane.
90° tape facing foul line, 0° tape facing the gutter, you get the idea.
Tilt: measure your track diameter and for every 1" less than 13.5" it is 6 2/3°.
For example 11.5" track = 13.5 - 11.5 = 2 x 6 2/3 = 13°
