I have an original X factor from one of the first production runs and it still is as good as the brand new out of the box balls. I have never had a problem with "Ball Death" and I have been throwing Storm exclusively for over 3 years.

It all comes down to ball care and maintenance. Clean them after you are done using them and get them resurfaced before the track looks like a snow tire and you will improve the lifespan of the balls.

I have bowled with storm since the onset of the products.  Ball death usely occurs in the proactive lines.  However, with the new technology in the particle cover stocks today they are less likely to "die".  This is however, not to say if you take a scotch brite or something to the ball that it wont kill it.  But if maintained and cleaned it should last for a few years.  I am still using my original x factor and thats been almost two years now.  I have all the x factors and love every one of them.  

I have found that the xxx is a good rolling ball its not so much as the original x factor in the length and then flip but a nice overall roll to the ball as well as it working on a wide range of lane conditions.
