I just ordered a Duece after much soul searching.
I've own a lot of equipment over the past few years -- I'd say 30+ balls. It's been a good cross combination of Ebonite, Track, Storm, with a sprinkling of Columbia and Lane#1. I asked myself of everything thrown over thousands of games, what ball has been most versatile and dependable on different league conditions?
The answer is my El Nino Gold. It rolls hard, and is hard charging (without being flipply) at the break point. I can use on everything from medium-light to medium-heavy. The hit is as explosive as anything I own. The ball has been sanded, polished, sanded again, polished, plugged, redrilled, and still has most of it's pop after 300+ games.
From everything I can tell, the Deuce is the closest ball to the Gold currently offered. They both appear to have the same ACCU-Tread reactive cover, and the cores are close in spec (the Deuce has a slightly higher RG). Anyway, they are close enough to give it a go.
If the balls are similar, it's beyond my imagination why the Duece isn't more popular.
