Zero Gravity and IQ Tour Nano
« on: January 13, 2016, 08:09:31 AM »
Drilling a fresh Nano and just found a really good deal on a NIB Zero Gravity so I bought it. Got to looking at the tech specs and for 14#, both balls have a 2.54 RG and .034 diff. Both also come 4000 grit from the factory. So....although the Zero is a mass bias ball, the intermediate diff is less than .010 which is almost so little to the point that USBC has said mass bias below .010 do not need to be marked on a ball....I wonder how much difference I am going to see out of the 2 balls. There is a slight core difference and the big difference is the IQ Nano has NRG and the Zero is ERG, which is the base for NRG without the additive.

I am going to drill them identical and leave them both factory surface for a comparison. I will report back on any differences I see.

Does anyone have both/had both and can provide any feedback?

I get a lil bit more pop off the back end with the zero than the iq...

The nano cover quite is a bit stronger than erg...I guess a THS won't really yeild results...maybe a heavier shot or sport oil would show their differences.

I know the masses like the !QTN more so, and perhaps the DO overlap..as the zero was discontinued right after the nano came out.

I use both on a shot on synthetics that hooks out the door.  The shot has the best results if you use a solid cover that controls the midlane and doesn't fly off the spot. Both of these have worked wonders for me now that balls like the menace, dream big, etc are too much ball.

Both provide control in my bag.
In the bag [Infinite Physix, Volatility Torque, Night Road, Phaze III, Burner Solid, Hustle AU]

Coming soon...???

Thanks Dozer. I like a few options with lower Diff (Loved the Visionary Ogres, Venom Shock, etc).

I've thought about this for quite a bit. They pretty much cover the same conditions, but the shape are a little different.

Agreed. In theory the NRG cover should make the Nano sooner and more even and the Zero should be a tisker longer with more move on the back. Essentially what Dozer alluded to in his post.

After throwing them, maybe a cover change to make some difference. Time will tell.

I have both with similar layouts.  For me the nano is about 5 more boards overall than the zero gravity.  Similar shape, the nano comes off the spot harder and continues better.  It's a lot better on fresh oil until I get left of about 20 then I'll throw the zero or some pearl ball to get a cleaner look.
