i'm disappointed they "evolved" the core. the ZG makes a decent move off the break, but it doesn't seem to have the same pop in the pocket as some other equipment, or the ZG's predecessors. I might be convinced in the future otherwise, but as of right now, I will be sticking with the Roto Grip side of Utah. I do hope this ball works for a lot of people.

I personally think you can't compare it to the Nano or Hyper Cell. This core and cover are much weaker than both of those. To me this is a slightly punchier IQ tour solid. I like the look and bet this ball will be a solid ths ball for house that put down a medium to heavier ths. It's going to have massive recovery on a ths

The Asylum seems punchier too from the videos. I'm merely trying to say they are using the gravity name, but it doesn't seem quite gravity-ish. The Hyper Cell seems to be everything I have hear about the old Cell line, the Widow line is making a return by Hammer, same core. I just wish the Gravity would have been like the used up Gravity I've used out of a friend's bag.

On a side not, imagine the Theory Core inside the 80 Microbite, or even an edge ccover.

Agree with vkowalski1970 two complete different balls. Cell 2000 ZG 4000 thats huge. I think the ZG could be Storms best release in a long time for ths.

You're missing the point with this release. Storm has swung and missed with 2 of the last 3 high end, premier, solid balls. Invasion, VG Nano, and Sync. Now before someone wets themselves, I understand that some people had success with the aforementioned balls. However, in general, they were not "slam dunks". All three were simply too early for a lot of players.

With the Zero Gravity you've created "name recognition" people will be drawn to it off name alone. With a higher rg and lower diff it'll be more user friendly for the masses.

I disagree with the statement "slightly punchier" version than the IQ Tour Solid. Itll be much earlier, R2S solid is not the strongest shell. I won't mention the diff or the benefit of asymmetry either.

Already drilled mine 55x5.25x40 pin over ring about 1 inch up and mb about 2.5 to the right of thumb, so far love it have just bowled one series of 695 out of the box(213,256,226) I left six 10 pins of which I missed 4 and left a few 8pins and even 2very weak 8-10's, I hit the pocket 35 out of 36 times, all I can say is that this ball give you a lot of room to miss your mark I was missing at my timing all night and on the lanes missing 2-3 boards by frame in and out and the ball somehow find its way to the pocket.
Definetly looks similar to the iq tour line because of the lower diff and lower mass biass strenght but it only looks similar in the great midlane control and the raction shape of a strong arc(the Zero is at least 6 boards stronger than previous iq tours and about 3 weaker than the hyper cell)but I would say that the ball fits between the sync and the lucid and its more useable on medium-heavy ths. Specially when I have a 390 rev rate at 16 mph and low tilt.
So I was surprised because I had never match well with storm high end solids due to extremely early rolling and not enough oil at the alley

to each their own, sorry to play devil's advocate.

is the zg really going to be worth more than the hyper cell? personally no. but that's for my game. like I said, I hope many people get great use of the ZG. Seems like in the last 2-3 years, Storm seems to be putting out equipment for a different market than Roto, which is good marketing. Go Utah!

Nano worked fine for me (borrowed from a friend who's close in span and drill), but the Sync seemed to be too early, never got the gut feeling to go buy. And I get using the name recognition, I just was slightly disappointed I wouldn't get a re-run of the original Shapelock HD, but i'll be happy, I have a Hyper Cell. That ball seems to be everything I've been looking for since I began my evolution to my current game a year and a half ago.

And just because I've obviously touched a nerve with people expressing my opinion, I did own a Hyroad. Started out merely ok, then got worse. The cover seemed to die on me early, and developed a very inconsistent reaction with it. On my list of bad for me balls. The Roto Grip side of Utah however, seems to hit more for me types of equipment.

I agree with most everything you said. I think the ball will be more usable for the masses...and they are using name recognition, comment bout "punchier" comes form just seeing the video. I should have said "slightly stronger" vs "punchier" although in the video Ball looks very clean upfront and looks like it has great recovery.

I think the Hyper Cell is a real good ball, but for the masses that are buying the latest greatest hook monster, I truly believe that most will be disappointed because they will try and use it on conditions that it just plan will not work on. The ball needs some oil or someone with some speed. I had issues with it burning up majorly at OB surface on my regular medium THS. Now when I changed surface, which most will not do, the ball was money but still strong...Thats where I think this ball(ZG) will come into play, it looks more useable for the masses. Most house bowlers like to think they are throwing the best ball on the market, not realizing that it might not match what they bowl on...
For example, I bought both HC and Asylum on the same day....the HC wasnt meant for me to throw on THS, but when I pulled it that first league night to just throw it, thats all people wanted to see, they didnt give a damn about the Asylum...they couldnt figure out why when league play started I threw the Asylum and not the HC.....In reality, the Asylum is the better ball for the masses, but the not informed bowler will never think that way. BTW, not a Hyroad fan either, I hated mine. It kept me away from Hybrids for a few years....until the Defiant Soul, now the Lights out and Asylum...all three were/are great

If I could afford it, I would have bought a Hyper, an Asylum, and an Uproar out of this last release. They all look great, and look like they compliment each other greatly. But in the meantime, I have a Versa-max, a Defiant pin-out, a Pursuit, a Totally Defiant, a Profit, soon a Freak and a Freak Out, and a spare ball if needed. While I have all of those, i'm also finding even as strong as this Hyper is, it can be thrown with much less hand than normal, and it can be used through out the night, even on THS.

The Zero Gravity is basically a symmetrical ball. The low intermediate differential will cause the PSA to swing to the thumb post drill. This makes the ball symmetrical by definition.

That in turn will allow the ball to retain rotation longer than a true asymmetrical ball and thus have more motion at the breakpoint for the masses.

I feel many pro shops do bowlers a huge disservice by not properly identifying individual delivery specs which in turn leads to incorrect layout choices on asymmetrical balls.

With lower tilt and rotation but higher revs and speed I always use low flare layouts on my asymmetricals but they rarely outhook their symmetrical counterparts.

On THS weaker is stronger many items and vice versa. Just my 2 cents. Hope it helps someone!

I forgot to mention that the angles on previous Storm high end balls where 50x6x50, but due to core(stronger mb)/cover(NRG)combination they were unusable on anything less than 42 ft or heavy 40 ft for my style

I used to throw Track. I actually had a Freak back in the day. It was my 2nd ball. Bad pro shop though at the time. Man was I not ready for a Freak. I asked for a Messenger, and the guy told me I didn't want a messenger, and that I wanted a Freak. I had borrowed a Messenger from my step-dad's teammate and it worked well for the game I had back then. Oh well. I had all kinds of old Track pieces: Freak, Equation, Mean Machine, Hexplosion, Hextreme. They lasted forever with little to no maintenance. I have my two high games of 284 and 287, and my first two 700 series of 724 and 748 on the Mean Machine, and I was only a 182 average at the time. I wonder where Track bowling would be if they hadn't been bought by EBI
