The layout that I choose for this ball was drilling #4 and drilling #3 on track drill sheet (made adjustments according to my PAP with relation to the wording on the sheet) My PAP 3 ¾ over ½ down 17.5 mph ball speed.
On the THS I used the (drilling #3) 400A SE out of box very smooth and even through the fronts, the backend reaction is strong but not a flip. You will know when to put the ball down and when to keep it in your hand. I was impressed with the recovery, if I leaked the ball right it didn’t over react nor lose energy, I did leave a couple nine pins. Right now I am using this ball in practice to let me know if I am going to need to go up or down in reaction, and when the lanes start to break down a bit I can go to this ball without a problem.
(Drilling #4) 400A SE this layout is surprisingly stronger I can get in about 3 to more 4 boards and still get that drive through the pins. When I hit the friction to early it stood up, however if I play with it in the oil it doesn’t die or just slide through the pocket. Both layouts store energy very well, and have a readable reaction. I can see this ball being used in the future even when they are no longer in production.
(Drilling #4) On the 44ft sport pattern I started with the box finish and I could play the track area but didn’t really have that reaction that I wanted the ball would hit light but not weak, moved in around third arrow and the reaction was a little better however you really didn’t want to miss. I could live with that so I put the ball to the test. I apply 500 grit wet abralon to the surface, this became a different reaction and ball all together. I played the track area and the ball started to dive through the nose, moved inside and played through the third and fourth arrow much better reaction then box finish. I could read the reaction from the arrows, break point and through the pins, it didn’t die or over react. Finally I moved right and played the 1, 2, and 3 board I was very impressed the ball held the line the entire way and finished very strong. I will be getting more of these solely on the versatility of the cover and layouts this cover, core combo allows.
