811A SE
« on: December 31, 1969, 06:00:00 PM »
Ball NPS Score: 100.00
- Color:  Black/Red/Blue
- Coverstock: “SE8” GEN1with Crystalline  Mica
- Finish:  500 1000 2000 polished
- Core:  “Legion 2 Turbo”
- RG:  #16/2.51 #15/2.50 #14/2.51
- Differential:  #16/0.048 #15/0.046  #14/0.040
- Reaction:  Angular
- Recommended Lane Condition:  Medium to  Medium Heavy Oil
- A few tiny pit holes in the cover stock of the ball are normal
- Description:   Track Bowling decided we  needed a stronger, more dynamic version of the 607A SE.  With that  thought in mind, we bring to you the all new 811A Special Edition  featuring a brand new core, the “Legion 2 Turbo”.  This unique core  started out as a symmetric core shape but then was modified into an  asymmetric core to get the exact RG, Differential, and Mass Bias numbers  we were looking for.  This perfectly tuned core is the “Heart and Soul”  of the new 811A SE.  With the Mass Bias being 0.011, this ball is set  up to give the most angular backend reaction to the widest range of  bowlers and styles.  To go along with our new “Legion 2 Turbo” core we  are also introducing an amazing new coverstock, the “SE8 GEN1” which  includes “Crystalline Mica”, an all-new performance pearl additive. This  additive is 15% more responsive off the dry than what was used in the  607A SE. You can clearly see in the SEM’s the difference between the SE6  coverstock and the new SE8.  With the new core and coverstock, we were  able to create the most balanced High Performance ball for the widest  range of bowlers’ styles.

LANE CONDITION

Length: 41 Feet

Volume: Medium

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): USBC White #2

 Layout: 55 x 5.5 x 40

COMMENTS

Likes: This ball was super good. It hits like a truck and has everything in the back end that all of the C balls are missing. It is a perfect compliment to the 716C, because as you open the lane up with the 716 the ball revs a little quicker and the cover slows the ball motion to where it has a tough time getting the corners out. This ball however, has the cleanest cover I have seen on a Track ball so it skids through the heads awesome, revs up strong in the mid lane, and then does a fantastic back end move. It had all the angularity you would expect from an 'A' ball. Every miss right came screaming to the pocket. The cleanliness through the front made sure that it always had energy to carry as well. First night out was 222, 300, 269 for a 791. It was really impressive. Carry was unbelievable. You need one of these if you plan on opening up your angles on the lane.

Dislikes: A little over under on the fresh, to be expected from a ball with polish and a layout of 55 x 5.5 x 40.

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): THS

DRILLING
5" Pin to PAP with 60º Mass Bias.  Pin under the fingers.

Likes:  Good length and very strong back end motion.  This ball gave me the confidence that I could throw it out and get it back.

Dislikes: On a strong wet/dry this ball could create too much over/under reaction.

COMPARISONS
716C:  The 811A SE has about the same length but stronger on the backend.  I had to move 2 to 3 boards left with my feet to get lined up.
607A:  The 811A SE is a stronger version of the 607A.  More hook on the back end and about 5 boards more hook overall.

Likes: Ball has the ability to recover from almost anywhere on the lane.  Very smooth through the front part and quite explosive at the back.

Layout:
60 x 5" x 40.  Identical layout to my 718A

Comparisons:  The 811A-SE is probably 5 boards stronger than the 718A with identical layouts.

Likes:The 811A SE opened up the lane for me and was extremely predictable. The 811A SE gave me a distinct break point and more than enough reaction when I needed it. The pattern played between 5 and 10 due to the characteristic of the center. The layout on the 811A SE is 70X5 1/8X80 and the extra is a P3. The surface is 2000 without polish with energizer cleaner to give it some tack. The backend motion is stronger than any of the previous releases (919C and 716C). The 811A SE is also stronger throughout the lane compared to the 607A SE. The 811A SE should be just as popular as the 607A SE. The ball is a beast!

Dislikes: Too much polish to match up to my rev rate (low 300). The 811A SE just went too far down the lane or over reacted on the dry. A simple coverstock change and it is a beast!

The new 811ASE is amazing point blank. If you love the 607ASE or 718A you will definitely love this one. I have it a bit earlier than the 607 and more than the 718 down lane. I layed mines out 50x4 1/2x40, and I was shocked when I saw how much I got out of it knowing I could have went stronger. I can't say this is a hidden gem because it's that good everyone should have at least one if not two. Its great on the medium to fresh, it's the big polished angular piece people have been looking for you must have one in your bag. Great Job Track keep making great product.

Likes: I love the easy length of the 811A SE.  The ball glides through the fronts with such ease and gets around the corner like nothing else we have released!  If you're looking for the big entry angle in a HP ball, look no further.  Those who had the 607A SE and want a little more bang, this is the way to go.  It's longer than the 718A with a TON more bounce off the spot. The continuation on this piece is also amazing.   This is a great choice for the heavy hand who really wants to send a ball and watch it flip.

Dislikes: Experienced some over/under with this piece at box finish.  With some surface adjustment, this ball is a beast.

This ball gets thru the front real clean and when it comes off the breakpoint it makes a hard arch to the pocket I wouldn’t call it skid/flip because it really rolls more than skids. The carry is fantastic really keeps the pins nice and low only thing I left was a couple of solid 8 pins and a few hard 9 pins. The color is real nice also nothing too bright.

Having thrown this ball for a little over a month now I have to say I continue to be impressed with how often I really can throw this ball.  For a high performance ball it gets down the lane extremely well and conserves enough energy to pack a serious punch when going through the pins.  I have two punched up, one pin up with the mb about 3" from the thumb, the other pin under the ring finger w/ a hole.  They compliment each other so well. I've been able to throw the ball up the lane and have it pop and carry and I've also been able to get very deep and play the big power player line on a burnt up tournament condition.

If you are looking for a stronger piece of equipment that gets down the lane before it makes it's move the Track 811A Special Edition IS the ball for you.

Preface- Track's unique numbering system is a  great way in my opinion to decide what ball would likely be the best  choice to fill a gap. Pick your ball strength 9-1, then decide whether  you need Continuation, Traction, Angular, or Control. Now you don't need  to remember what name gives you what performance.

 BALL SPECS
     Pin Length - 3-4 inches
     Starting Top Weight - 3
     Ball Weight - 15.4

     DRILL PATTERN
Pin to PAP - 4 in.
Pin is above ring finger by 1 1/4 inches just to the right of ring finger.
 Dual angle layout of 50 X 4 X 25

     BOWLER STYLE
     Rev Rate - 400
     Ball Speed - 16-17 MPH
     PAP/Track - 4 5/8 right, and 5/8 up

     SURFACE PREPARATION
     Grit - 2000 grit abralon
Type (Matte, Polish, Sanded) - Polished

     LANE CONDITION
     Length - 35 ft
     Volume -  medium
Type (Wall, Xmas Tree, Sport) -  Xmas tree. House with guardian heads

     BALL REACTION
     Length - 8/10
     Back End - 9/10
     Overall Hook - 8/10
     Midlane Read - 3/10
Breakpoint Shape - In true Track A ball fashion, the ball goes super long and flips super hard on the back end.

     COMMENTS
Carry - Ball throws pins all over the deck. This is one of those  balls that as it drives through the deck, pins are spinning across to  clear any ring 10s or 7s
Likes - When this ball turns left it crushes the pocket loud and hard
Dislikes - If you get slow with the ball be prepared for funky splits.

Leave it to Track to make the only shiny hook monster on the market. For  me, most hook monsters tend to roll out as it burns up because of my  rev rate. This ball lives up to the A Line style and is a great high end  angular ball, which is one of the hardest things to find.

I think this ball and the Nexus Solid are two of the must have balls of the season.

Videos of this ball will be posted on my shops Facebook page.
