The 916AT is pin over the fingers with a small hole 45 degrees down in the thumb quadrant. The numbers are 50 x 5 1/2 x 45. The surface is box with a hand scuff of 2000 abalon. The ball really reads the midlane and still has some pop on the backend. The 916AT is very similar to the 920T through the front part of the lane but in the mids and backs it is a completely different animal. The ball has teeth especially when their is a little conditioner in the fronts and the backends have a little play on them. The 916AT turns the corner and keeps coming. If you are looking for a ball that will give you a chance to score on longer patterns this ball is it.

Picked up the 916AT as i loved the 607A SE

One of the first people down here to throw it i think. And people are starting to see how well this ball does on the lanes.

Main reason i picked up this ball was to have a ball that i could use in the Heavy Oil. I had nothing in the current arsenal to tackle the heavy stuff. The Ball carries and hits like a train. Reacts very smoothly, but needs oil lol.

But when the lanes break down, i just jump right onto the Track 607A SE

If youre looking for a ball that carry's great or need something that does awesome on the heavy oil, then look no further

had the ball for one week now. first day out with it went 268 front 8. next league go 300,278,236 for 814 the ball is freaking sick. just hit the 1-3 pocket and pins dont stand a chance. wish i could get two more.

I drilled my 916 with the pin over the ring finger, MB right of the thumb hole, and a low flare increasing hole. Pin is 4 inches from my PAP. My PAP is 4 1/2 over and 3/4 up. The pin was out 3 inches from the CG before drilling. The ball had 3.2 top weight before drilling. My ball speed is medium at best, my rev rate is also medium to high.

Out of the box, this ball is very strong and could be used as a heavy oil ball. It burned up a little quick on the house pattern that I bowl on, but got better with use and the shell soaked some oil and calmed down. The hitting power is incredible, I was able to get some messenger head pins that I don't usually get.

In order to get more use from this ball, I hit the surface on the spinner with a towel that had Storm #2 polish on it. This shined the surface, but left some texture and made the surface more tacky. SHAZAM!!! This ball has been absolutely awesome since making this adjustment. More skid on the dry, but still reads some in the oil. I shot 300 in league the first set with it, and my low set is 723 on my Monday night league. Carry power is still tremendous, but the lanes play tighter now, and the ball doesn't burn up at the break point, it is actually pretty sharp. A 4 inch pin to PAP is pretty strong for me, as I usually lean towards 4 1/2 to 5 1/2, but this layout is very nice for this ball.

I feel like high speed players will like this ball on fresh oil, as it should give them some good bump on the dry. Twisters should like this ball on some oil, but will probably like some polish on it to make it more versatile. Straight players should like this ball, but may need some shine depending on how much oil being bowled on.

I think Track has winner here for medium to heavy oil. This ball seems to be very versatile, and shell doesn't seem to be soaking any oil, and seems just as strong now as it was 45 games ago. (counting practice)

Thanks to Steve Szabina with Ebonite for recommending this ball to me. Have sold three so far, and have three very happy customers, worked perfect on the correct condition and with correct surface prep.

I got the 916AT two weeks ago. I am not sure of the exact stats before drilling. The ball is a longer pin for me about 3.5"-4". The ball was drilled pin just right and above the ring finger, and the cg and mb are below. Pretty much in a line like what I used to call a stacked drilling. A weight hole was drilled in the upper right quadrant. The ball was left in out of the box surface.
First night out I had some mild success, ball rolled well, was easy to read and seemed to hit OK, but I was covering a lot of boards and I felt I was losing some of the hitting power because the shot was dryer than normal. I was determined to throw it regardless of the shot. A couple of unimpressive games followed, then I switched to my Pure Swing to shoot 268 and salvage an OK series. This past Tuesday while throwing shadow balls before league I was very pleased to see considerably more oil on the lanes. With the extra oil this ball really came to life. I had moved about 5 boards right from the previous week, and I was amazed at the hit and carry. The ball was retaining great energy and not burning up and the results showed its true nature. 298-246-268 for an 812. (I yanked the 12th shot).

Conclusion - strong ball with great hit, but if you are going to keep it box surface make sure there is sufficient oil to keep it from burning out and compromising the hit. For the time being I am not going to change the surface on it, I'll make sure to keep it for those shots it is really needed. (A Track staffer friend of mine the guy that drilled the ball, shined one of his and found it to be very adaptable, but he also did convince me to keep mine as is.) I am very glad I did. When I need some hook on oil this is the ball I am going to reach for. Great ball from Track and Ebonite.

Likes:I polished the 916AT that a posted earlier on here and the difference in length is fantastic and the motion on the backend is strong and predictable. I had some serious over under and the smooth it away and never gave away the pocket. The ball retained energy as I moved deeper and was able to get around the corner even for this rev challenged individual!!!!

I actually drilled it a little different then the rest of my equipment (pin down) and

there will be few times I will be able to use it, and or use it the whole night, But when

Likes: Ball is very clean in the frt and reads the mids excellently. The finish is a strong continuous arc that is controllable and creates a good angle to carry off pocket hits. In House #1(old wood resurface 2 summers ago) there is a big over/under reaction and with this ball I can get deep inside away from the dry and still have plenty of power to carry. In House#2 (same old wood as House#1 resurface last summer) the lanes have less hook and more carry down. The 916AT ignores the carry down and just keeps coming back all night. At this house I need less adjustments and usually can play between 15 and 18 out to 7 and maybe move 2 or 3 boards a night.

Dislikes: Nothing so far.

Drilled the 916 with the Pin above the fingers on the grip centerline (about 5.5" from pap) (pap is 5.5" right and 0.5" up) with the MB kicked to the right 2" of centerline. Left cover OOB.

OOB cover had plenty of lenght but still hooks a ton on the back end. Has Great hitting power. Took about a week to get used it and to get a little oil shine on it. After a week it settled down a little. In two weeks using it I have had 770, 2-300s and 2-800's. Also shot +282 in a 4 game tournament (270 ave) for a win.

This is the first Track ball I have tried in years and it is a keeper. Will have to try another Track ball soon.

My 916AT is a pin up, slightly left of center with a balance hole kicked out to the right of the fingers.

Now I have a 505C and bowl on a med-oil first shift THS. My 505 is really perfect for this shot, and I normally wouldn't want to use the 916 because it is so strong. Others burn up my 15-5 line by the end of the first game. But I won the ball, and was determined to use it.

Initially, I took the cover to 4000 and lightly polished it. Still way too strong. I considered using it by taking some of my hand out of the ball, but I really can't be consistent with that. So I really put some elbow grease into it and polished it up for 10 minutes.

Wow- what a difference.

The ball floats through the midlane, and turns the corner when it hits the spot. Not an overpowering snap you would expect from an angular ball. But more of a traction response and it hits really hard. I stayed at 15-5 for two games and then left a few 9 pins. So I moved 3 boards left on the lane and I got the same reaction as I did when the oil was fresh.

They were right about this ball- it does take surface changes easily. When I bowl in a tournament where there's more oil, all I have to do is take the polish off and it'll handle that condition with ease.

Hurry up and get this ball.

BALL REACTION

Length: The 916AT has moderate length because of the pin placement and unless you have alot of speed on the ball, it does burn up energy on the backend once the series progresses. On heavy/long oil it goes abit too long and can easily miss the pocket. But on a fresh shot that's around 40 ft or less I found the right type of length since I'm rev challanged.

Back End: I don't come across solid balls that much that has the type of backend as this one does. It does have abit of an angular backend even with the duller surface but it's is controllable if you start the night off with this one. Does have alot of continuation into the pocket so it doesn't seem to want to stop once it contacts with the pins. Though the 916AT and 920T has almost a similar core there is difference in the backend reaction between them. 920T is smoother while the 916AT is angular, expecially if you add the polish. I found it extra useful playing it straight up the 10-12 board on the Masters Pattern and only have to move a few boards after a few games but still keep the same strong backend reaction.

Overall Hook: This ball hooks, make no mistake about it. I would rate the overall hook "high" and 2nd most in my bag.

Midlane Read: Moderate to strong. It's not too hard to swing it from inside out to like the 5 board and still have it hook strong on the midlane.

Breakpoint Shape: Arc and strong continuation. Depending on how you surface it you can get different looks with it whether you want it to be an arc or angular motion. That's one of the strong points of this ball.

COMMENTS

Likes: Good ball to start the game with. Strong midlane and semi-angular backend. I don't like to brag about high games on a review because it's overall performance that matters to someone reading a review. This ball will work well with all types of players and there's a wide variety of angles that you can play this at with plenty of room for error.

Dislikes: Not good on heavy oil, but that's not what this ball is intended for. And sometimes this ball can burn too much energy as the lane oil starts to disappear.

I bought this ball for the above house condition where my UpRising easily squirts, I wanted a ball that would roll a bit earlier and still finish.. This ball does the trick.

Layout: pin under bridge on centerline 1.5" up from the mid/MB out 3" from the centerline. I will add the dimensions when I find the paper that I wrote it all down on.

Had to polish the surface as the ball checked up early for me. Left it at 2000 and hit it once with Magic Shine. Better, but not good enuff. Hit it again with magic shine, noticeable gloss. Ball now rolls super. Rolls a touch earlierthan the Up, no squirt, and its quite angular for me, It hits very hard. I love the ball

Had the 916AT for about 1 year, went with the box finish strong drill, Style: Stoker, 15 mph, 916AT rolled too long with little movement on the back end for me on medium and heavier conditions, I could use on drier patterns, but both houses I bowl at are med to heavy oil so the ball went to the closet after about 12 games, I picked up the Prodigy at the same time, and knowing the prodigy was a overall stronger ball, I worked mainly with that ball. After about winter league was over, I tried the 916AT again, this time had the finish taken down to 1000 grit, Boy did this ball come alive, Wow..

This is exactly what I was looking for in my Arsenal, long and strong very clean thru the heads, the a strong finish at the end, no over/under, this ball is very predictable, Just been added to my bag, prodigy is out..
