Track Wants to cast a Spell on You to buy this one!

Let me start out by stating that Most of the Time, We believe Track
to having some of the Best bowling balls on the lanes when it comes
to New Technology and  Great performance!

But with the Introduction of "The Spell"

We believe someone has just gotten lazy at Track or Maybe Bored?

First of all the weight block design for this ball is not new!
It comes from the AMF Night Hawk Revenge Series!
(Do the research and check it out!)

Remember, that AMF is manufactured by (Columbia/Track) so somehow we get
Shared Technology between theses three!

Not to say that this ball will not perform well because of "File Cabinet"
design work, but that we expect more from the Old Leaders of High Performance
ball designs! Were is the likes of the Old Critical Mass? or NUKE?

Anyhow, we have several of theses new "Spells" on the lanes and hears what we think! Our Test Spell was drilling 4X4 with no balance hole.

We found this ball the ball provided good traction because of the "Big Foot" particle cover is friendly! The ball gave us controlled hook on the back-end, Not a big Snapping ball! The Hit was Ok!, We say ok, because the ball seemed to bleed off too much energy on the broken down house shot that we first tried it on.

The Hit was Soft! Not what I would expect from a Track Ball!

We moved to a pair of lanes that was freshly oiled and we found the ball would get down the
lane nicely and with a good arching style hook to the pocket we found better hit and carry! (Still Not Great, but better!)

We went to the ball spinner and applied alittle "Black Magic" polish to the cover and went back to the Fresh lanes, and again some improvement!

Good Length, Controlled Strong Arching hook on the backend and Better hitting!

This ball seemed to be abit lazy in my hands, and It just did not turn the corner strong enough for me to find a place for it in my bag on a regular basis!

Those of you who have a stronger release will get more out of this one!

But Remember! This is another one of those particle balls that needs lane oil to work well! And the more the better!

Over all, we "were not" impressed with this one, and it did not "Cast a Spell"
on any of our testers! Myself included!

We will recommend this ball to our customers but we will also caution them that there are better choices for the same price point!

I drilled this ball just before going to Billings for the ABC Tournament.  I used a ball with  the pin 2 inches out for the following layout:

Pin 5" from the PAP
Cg 3 1/2" from the PAP
3/4" balance hole on the PAP

I knew this ball would give me great length so I used this layout to give me a little more mid-lane control.  The Spell gets through the front of the lane very easily and still has a strong angular motion on the backend of the lane.  It allowed me to play much straighter through the front of the lane and not give up any angle to the pocket.

I feel that this will be a great ball on medium conditions for players with heavy hands.  The Straighter players will like the Spell on lighter patterns.  I have heard that Roger Bowker shot 2 800s with this ball in three weeks.  The strappers will love it because they will not have to fight the ball through the heads and the straighties will like it because they can create more angle down the lane without moving in.  Since this is a particle ball it is a little less sensitive to carrydown.

The shape of the Spell's core is the same as the Hextreme, but do not get fooled.  This is NOT the same ball.  The core is made of 4 pieces.  All of which have different densities.  By changing those densities the ball's Rg and differential values can be altered dramatically which can create completely different ball reactions.  The Bigfoot particle coverstock of the Spell is the same as the Money.  It is a light load particle in a softer resin that allows the ball to have more surface contact with the lane.  This ball will match up with a wide variety of players.

Ok, originally had this ball drilled "freespin", did not like it.....contemplated getting rid of it. Then I thought to redrill it more aggressively. Now it is drilled with the pin to the right of the ring finger cg kicked out a little. This ball moves!! Goes long and smooth and then snaps and crushes the pocket!! I love the way this ball moves!! I am sure good things will come as time goes on!!

Spell, 15 lbs, 2.5 oz of tw, 2-3 inch pin.

Drilled 4.5x3.5. I dont know why everyone hates this ball. I never see anyone using but it is my ultimate wet/dry weapon. The specs from Track are deceiving because this ball does not hook that much, but what it lacks in hook it more than makes up for in hit and length. With this ball you get out what you put in if you miss it at the bottom it wont hook and if it does it will be very minimal and you can expect LOTS of weak tens but if you catch it at the bottom you can expect pin-punishing power. I call this my "voice-activated" ball because when I yell "push", "stop", or "hook". It does any of the 3. Keep in mind that you get out what you put in with this ball. Im sure most will be able to pick this ball up on clearance since it has gotten a bad rep in the bowling community. If you should find one for cheap I suggest you grab it.

This is not your best girl!  I mean you wouldn't bring her home to MOM or out with your frat buddies.  She's ugly!

Green yellow globs of yuk for a cover.  But when you get her under the sheets, er lane she's quite a performer!  If you've seen the first scene in American Wedding you know what I mean!  If you haven't or would rather go to church instead of seeing this movie skip all this and go straight to the review, no offense intended.

Recommended by my friend Ric Clint(who should not read above!).  This hot little performer really is the real deal.

Featuring the Ceramaslam core used so often by AMF this in my opinion may be the best use since the awesome reactive AMf Hawk.  Go see all the great reviews on the HAWK!!!

Always wished you could get the great Hawk move but just a little earlier then now you've got your wish, more bite built in to the coverstock.

2 1/2 inch pin out ball purchased fast quick and easy from Tenpinitis and friend!

Ball drilled about 4 1/4 X 3 1/2.  Just a slight cg kick out with a reaction enhancing hole 6 1/4 out from grip center(1 inch past pap) and angled out 1/2 inch.

Finished and left dull with white 1000 pad!

First blush was on very wet synthetics and results at first were just what was expected.  Not much.  Playing over 10 out to 8 the same line as the Fuze Detonator and Reaction Roll(wet I told ya)(striking at will) this ball just
didn't have much compared to those low rg monsters.

All of a sudden I tried a different tack 8 to 6 and and this much higher rg monster leapt to life.  Playing in this dryer area the length was just a touch more than the monsters above and the backend just came to life.  Always on the verge of being too long this thing really made some hay but left some ringers due to its sharp later backend.  Summary to this point this ball really has some backend but later than it's low rg brethren.

Next encounter with this exciting monster was on wood with some good oil in the middle and pretty strong backends.  This ball on this shot was almost perfect and just seemed to always be striving to smoothly get back to the pocket and then a hard almost hockey sticked type move at the back followed by a tremendous THA Whump as it hit the pocket and threw pins viciously all over the place.  If the lanes were just a touch wetter this thing could have struck for several games!

Summary, If you are looking for midlane on synthetics this ball does not have it built in to its core(2.584 rg), unless you find a dryer patch.  But if you can find that dry or get on wood(to get the ball to produce little midlane) this ball produces some scintillating backend for a particle ball!

I think of the many times my Hawk almost would have worked where this would have!  emmmm emm.  Note the Hawk could really work but not as often as this babe will.

This is a good one!  Right behind those heavy oilers in the arsenal.

REgards,

Luckylefty
PS A strong throwing friend of mine with an up the back release and not much backend I always wanted him to try the Hawk!  Never happened.  I was telling him about the Spell the other day and he said, yeah "That ugly thing I only averaged 241 in our summer league that you weren't in".  I love it!  "Where is it?" I said.  His reply,"Too ugly, got rid of it?"  Oh well!
PPS, HAve tried the Nighthawk SPT also and there is just something better about the ugly Spell coverstock, I don't know what it is, more skid, less particle, something that just makes it better!  Don't want to look at it except when it's movin down that lane!  Yummy!
It takes Courage to have Faith, and Faith to have Courage.

I've had this ball for two weeks now and for me this is my first ball out the bag.  I had it drilled up with the pin below the ring finger and the cg kicked out slightly.  The ball is 15lbs with 3 inches of pin.  Sorry just not big on ball specs.  Anyway I love the control of this ball.  It rolls long and smooth, hits the dry and arcs strong to the pocket.  It does hit a little soft but on today's lane condition you need something that doesn't implode into the pocket, leaving the dreaded 10.  It does need some oil but the control this ball has is very impressive.  I think it's one of the most underrated balls on the market.
