I got this ball via a suggestion of a Track Amateur staffer, Michael Webber. He told me this would be better at the drier end of the spectrum and smoother than the Desert Heat.

Weight: 15# Reconditioned(thumb plugged once, fingers twice)
Layout: Pin slightly under middle finger
Surface: Maximum polish for the drier side of lanes
Lane conditions: Medium, Medium-Dry, Medium w/carrydown, and the 2nd and 3rd games of league

My first impressions of this ball were the smoothness from heads to pin deck. The Magic doesn't overreact off the dry, and it's polished state really helps delay the break of the ball. Even though this a particle ball, it works well enough on even the drier of lanes I see out there.

The thing is, it skates in oil on most shots out there. The coverstock on this ball is particle, and it will grip on the lighter side of shots, but most of that doesn't really happen a lot.

The hit as always on Track balls, solid, through and through. I am amazed at how the Magic hits and carries a lot of mixers, solid flush, and flush strikes w/o slowing down. This ball hits harder than anything I have since the Arsenal Reactive.

I was playing the shot on the lane(THS w/ carrydown) I was on like it was the Cheetah pattern, with friction to the right and hold to the left, Swinging the Magic from standing at 12 hitting the 3 board or 5 board and having it hit dead flush was something to behold. Seeing how it doesn't overreact and stay an arc.

On the lanes:

Heavy oil: D- .... You have to play extremely direct to get the ball to do what you want it to do. With the drilling and coverstock finish, it skates way too much here.

Medium lanes: B-....The Magic works good here, just as long as the the line is still direct and you have good hand rotation.

Medium-Dry- A++++ (favorite line and condition on the lanes): This is what the Magic was made for nowadays, and playing this line I perfect. Throwing this ball  on this shot is a killer on the pins...

Dry- B The coverstock is particle and it hooks less but, it was not made for desert condition lanes. The Magic I have is polished, but still does the heavier side of drier shots.

Overall: A

The Magic filled a niche in my bag I have been wanting for months now. Finding a ball like this instead of the Desert Heat, makes me glad I did it. If you can find one of these gems, get one. They are rare....
