Super Freak
« on: December 31, 1969, 06:00:00 PM »
Ball NPS Score: Not Available
No more rumors or speculation... The Super Freak is here! The placement of another wing attachment on the opposing side of the RevPlate provides the necessary combination of power and control to handle the WOW II Ultra particle coverstock. WOW II Ultra is the most aggressive coverstock used in conjunction with the Morpheus Core Technology. The Super Freak is undoubtedly the strongest ball in the Freak line.

If you think The Mutant hooks you have seen nothing.

I am not huge on buying a bowling based on the the company saying it will hook. Most of the time you get a ball that hooks, but it is not that drastic of a difference between it and any other "huge hook" ball.

The Super Freak delivers just that. With no hesitation I will say this ball hooks 4-6 boards more than my Mutant. I do not think it hits as hard, but that could mostly be due to the fact that the cover may need polished a hair.

Definately a ball for the soup. If you do not have enough head oil, PUT IT AWAY! The length difference between this ball and Mutant is much more severe than the numbers indicate. My Mutant gets down the lane 5-6 ft further than the SF.

At this point, with the conditions I bowl on this ball will not make it out of the bag very much, but when it has to come out I know it will do the job it is supposed to.

I am happy to see Track covering the mid to heavy oil conditions, but I would like to see a ball for the light stuff. Weak core, weak reactive cover.

Super Freak is a 10 out of 10---because it does as advertised, hook and hooks and hooks and hooks and hooks and hooks and hooks and hooks..and hooks some more.

Here comes Track agin with another winner. The Super Freak drilled 6x4 with the pin above and centered between the bridge, and the cg out one inch from the grip center and just below the mid plane gives me a great deal of distance and snap reaction towards the deck with heart pounding carry.

This ball for me is not a first out of the bag type ball, but this is by my choice, I bring it out when the oil carries down. I can use a typical 15 to 5 swing, or play a little more speed up 5 to 3 and finish through the carry down as if it didn't exist.  ( Box condition ).

I loved the Freak so much I could,t pass this up after I read the Bio's from Track, the engineering team put a solid ball together with a perfect combination of cover/ core mix, and they work in concert with each other.

Good for me on heavy mediums, or heavier short patterns with carry down.

Great job Track.

Umm,I bought this S-Freak about a month ago and havent really used it since.Ok,starters it was used once(very lil'.Orig' owner said it hooked to much!
LIKE the stats on this ball,I give it a pre "A".It does DO what it reads in the specs! Now the lowdown, this ball was redrilled a 1/2" inch off the original plug
at a "MEDIUM TRACK" around 4 or so inches staright down. He(the driller) suggest I leave the close to the original PLUG area.He claims if I change it to high track(5 1/4 or more)I wont like its super hook!Anyways its test time.MAN!!!!It was light oil night on a USED sport shot lane!I'll explain, there was a "sport shot" league earlier and they "redistributed",if you will, the oil or made other spots drier. This was NOT my night to test SF,but I did!Yeeesh, this ball HOOKS!!
I left it alone.like the driller asked and still it Super hooks!I dont remember seeing a head pin at all until the 7th frame, man!!!One has to be REALLY STRONG to throw this puppy! The only way I could get to the head pin was to throw it out from THE far left side. Then swing as hard as I can at the right sides 8-10 board, sometime a 15 board too.Goosh, one gets tired!Again "Track's S-Freak is a HOOK MONSTER!!I haven't used since cause I'm looking for a LIGHTER one.So it sits in my bowling rack display with the other 3 in the "FREAK FAMILY",well 2,ones a Mutant, oops!I do recommend this ball,BUT be very careful and go for a LIGHTER ONE!!A lb or so,I dont remember if Track makes these in "12LBs"?No matter overall rating "A".Only cause I used this personally for less than 8 games.I might give another chance, but probably eat a TON of Wheaties or drink a case of Red Bull before I throw this thing!

Mine is 15 lbs after drilling with Pin-out 3 inches,as per drilling instruction, uses maximum flare and mass bias placement 3(roll early).
I have tried on long oil pattern and i'm amazed of the reaction. Throws at 4th arrow, balls hook back and backend is awesome. I give it 10 out of 10. Just need to practice more. Scored 156,195,213 on 1st practise with the ball. I really recommend it for heavy oil. Works as promised.

Keep bowling...

I bought this ball used from JKiser01 (great guy). Ball is 15#, with a 1" pin. Drilled pin under ring, cg is 1" below and 1/2" to right of pin, mb is below and to the right of thumb. Let me start by saying that this ball in box condition didnt recover early enough for me. I was having problems getting it to turn over and make its move. I hit it with a green scotch brite and treated it with Doc's Magic Elixir. Now the ball moves as advertised. My house is usually med/hvy and I am able to play a nice swing shot with this ball. Stand 25, target 15 at the arrows it goes to about 8 at the break and flips. The backend on this ball for me is fantastic. Hits very hard as do all of the other Track balls I own. See my profile for my style of play. I give this ball a solid 9 out of 10 only because of the "slick" factory finish.

How am I supposed to knock all 10 down with one ball?!?

Awesome hit with this ball but needs conditions to be right for it to work.Doesn't hook much on heavy oil and way too strong on dry or flying backends.I tend to leave a lot of 7 pins (I'm R/H) but for med oil will do the job.

I bought this last year. only after about 2 weeks when it came out. I loved it.. I am a hard throwing cranker and this ball works. I have found that it will turn over a little better if u get it out on the lane furhter. (loft it a little). The only problem i had with this ball is that it died quickly. I have had to use methos od extracting oil from it to keep it alive. The ball absorbs oil like you wouldnt believe. But since i was able to work on it a little. i have been shooting better.

Had mine for a while now. Won a couple of tournys with it. I love this ball on fresh oil. It does tend to leave a 10 here and there but WOW does this baby got a backend!!! Its got great great carry and pretty forgiving. You need a heavy oil ball then i would check out Tracks line up. They have been making some damn good balls!!

i have had the super freak for i dont know how long now but its been awhile. well it was great when it started and it still is great today ( even though it has changed coverstock so to speak...ill explain)  the super freak started out extremely dull like it is supposed to be.  then it kept getting swamped with oil over and over again  which i would expect nothing less from a dull ball. but eventually it started to track out.  and there it was all swamped with oil and dead. or so i thought.   i needed a ball for dry lanes and i dident have the money. so i decided to polish the super freak like glass.  Believe it or not the super freak works extremely well polished. and im still using it to this day.  its a great ball.

I bought my Super Freak in July 04 just when they were discontinued and a few places were selling them at reduced prices. I was a little apprehensive about buying one after reading several reviews stating that the Super Freak dies quickly. After about 4 months of use and about 72 games on it, my Super Freak is still performing great. I clean it after every league session with diluted Simple Green and a burgundy Scotch-Brite pad.

I do not know the technical details of the drilling, but my 15#/3"Pin/3.25 top Super Freak was drilled aggressively to hook and roll early and it has a balance hole to make it legal. I am the type of bowler whose speed overpowers his rev rate and this aggressively drilled Super Freak really helps me get the ball to the pocket on soupy league shots. I basically throw down and in and even when the oil starts to break down(2nd shift league), if I throw it a little faster it will still hit with power and not roll out. I would not use this ball on dry conditions, but if you have some speed and are a little rev challenged like me this ball is great. I just bought another one for safe keeping, so if you can still find them for sale grab one before they are gone.
