COMMENTS

Likes: This ball is great on the burn. It clears the fronts and makes a left in the back. It works great about the last part of game 2 and through game 3 of league night for me. Many others might see a stronger reaction if they have slower ball speed. I throw right around the upper 19's.

Dislikes: Nothing really. The ball wasn't made to hockey stick but sure could if you wanted it to .

So smooth. There is nothing bad to say bout this ball! It does everything you want ball to do!!   Keeps the ENERGY stored and great backend reaction.

COMMENTS

I choose a very different layout for this ball 110 x 2 1/2 x 45.  PAP 3 over 5/8 up 17-18 mph ball speed.  Which gives me pin to the right of my ring finger CG under my middle finger and MB near the first track ring on the ball X-hole is on my mid line on the left side of the ball which I don’t track over.

I get a very lazy readable reaction with this ball something that I have not seen before out of anything that I have bowled with.  I was able to use this on a broken down house, a fresh house shot, and a short 35ft sport pattern.   I also changed the surface a few times going from box finish, to polish, to 2000 as well as 500/1000/2000 and light polish.  For me the best reaction came from having it at 2000.

On the broken down house shot I was able to play them from inside to the dry and watch the move toward the pocket, the only danger was getting the ball inside with that layout friction is NEEDED, very good for anything wet dry.  Also with a layout like that I was able to control the roll with my hand and still stay away from tracking over the weight hole.  Pin carry was great the ball stored so much energy it rolled heavy into the pocket I left a couple eight pins but that I can live with.

The fresh house shot this was what I wanted to see it on, and for this I polished the ball the night before league because I already saw the reaction with surface now let’s see what polish will do.  In this particular bowling center it is always dry to the right.  I was able to stand about 20 and look at 10-3 as my target area down the lane because I wanted to hit the friction as late as I could.  The reaction was clean and still predictable I was afraid the polish would make it snap way to much.   And once again the pin carry was absolutely wonderful.

Final condition was Boardwalk, I started as far right as I could go and the polish on the ball had it pick up way to early, after that I slowly moved left but not huge moves because I wanted to see the ball reaction without being to deep.  When I got to a point were I was deep enough and not taking myself out of the playable area.  I noticed the Hx05 with the polish with pick up way sooner then I wanted it to and I could not get a consistent read from it.  Since it was practice I hit it with 500/1000/2000, and that was the key to success for me.  The early read went away I was able to move a little more right and didn’t have to be to far left.  The shape was still smooth and somewhat lazy and kept that energy when driving through the pins.  I was very impressed with the reaction and finish on the ball with a layout like that.

Hx05 is very predictable and can work with surface changes or not, any ball that is versatile like that I am always a fan.  I believe once a pattern calls for this type of reaction it will be hard for me to put it down.

I've had this ball for almost a year. I wanted to wait to review until I've had enough time to see how i really felt about it after the excitement of the purchase wears off. This is a great ball. I find it works best at the end of the 2nd game and through the third. It was a bit too easy to wash out at OOB surface. I scuffed it by hand with a 2000 abralon pad and that made a world of difference. It's not that great on the fresh, but is a go to ball once the lanes break down or on the burn. It reads the kids nice and has great continuation through the pins. If you find yourself battling over/under conditions towards the end of the night, then this ball may be just the ticket. Don't let the "H" in the name make you hunk this is only for high rev rates. It's just a nice, predictable, hard hitting ball. I drilled it pin up and to the right of my ring finger, cg just about straight down from that.
