I punched mine with a 55x4x50 layout. As intended, this ball is pretty responsive in the mid-lane. It was the first ball out of my bag when competing on the WTBA Paris pattern (47') and still read the lane soon enough to create a little miss room to the right. When compared to my 50x4x40 Mako it reads the lane slightly earlier but is not as angular off the end of the pattern. When competing on a THS, I found this ball is excellent on the fresh. Misses right didn't overreact and misses left picked up soon enough to kick out the ten. Although I was able to move in to the 5th arrow and deeper on the long pattern with no issue, I was forced out of the ball during the last game of the THS due to the wet/dry conditions causing a bit of over under.

Summary - Considering the price point, the Kinetic Ruby offers excellent value. This ball will respond to fresh oil for all styles of players, while players with very high rev rates and slower ball speed should consider a weaker drilling to ensure the ball does not respond too quickly. Additionally, this ball is versatile enough to be used for longer tournament formats and should offer a very predictable reaction off the end any pattern.

Fresh House Patterns and 45ft Sport Pattern

I was able to use the Kinetic Ruby on two different fresh house tournament patterns, I am extremely impressed with the length and the recovery I am able to get from the Kinetic Ruby even with the box surface.  After about 6 games it had a little lane polish but that didn’t stop the reaction from being smooth and arcing at the end of the pattern.  Even on the shots that the Kinetic Ruby hit the friction earlier or sooner the motion was not violent the ball stood up and made that smooth reaction, which was an eye opener for me.  Being able to use the Ruby on a fresh pattern as well as when the lanes started to breakdown shows me its versatility right out of the box.  I have both Kinetic Ruby/Kinetic Emerald drilled the same and the difference for me is the Kinetic Ruby is not as sharp once it hits the friction.  I also put both bowling balls at the same surface to make sure I was able to see how they perform side by side.  These two bowling balls have impressed me and I put them to the test on a 45ft sport pattern to see how they performed.  Smooth overall stronger continuous arc versus earlier sharper continuous hook this is was my result after using the Ruby and Emerald on the sport pattern.  The Ruby was the smoother yet overall stronger of the two.  The Ruby also allowed me to play straighter for the first couple games and as the pattern started to move me left that smooth overall hook was really needed to dig through the volume of oil and still retain the energy to finish through the pins.  The Ruby and Emerald are both gems it depends on which cut of stone you’re a fan of.

Drilled the Ruby with my benchmark drilling and will use as the first ball out of the bag on fresh conditions.  I really like the motion I am seeing as the ball has the same motion as my Mako only a couple boards less.  Nice ball for the price point.
