Paradox
« on: July 10, 2015, 11:46:47 AM »
Description:  The Track Paradox is aggressive in the front part of the lane, the mid-lane, and the backend on heavy oil conditions making this bowling ball a truly unexplainable paradox.  This ball uses the i-Core 2.0 to create a big flare potential and the QR-9 Hybrid coverstock helps create major pin action by responding to lane friction quickly.

Features:

- Color: Blue/Blue Pearl/Light Blue  (Colors may vary from picture shown)
- Reaction: Strong Continuous Hook
- Coverstock: QR-9 Hybrid
- Factory Finish: 500/2000 Abralon
- Core: i-Core 2.0 (Dual Density)
- Recommended Lane Conditions:  Heavy Oil
- RG: 2.48 (15# ball)
- Diff: .057 (15# ball)

LANE CONDITION

Length:Various

Volume: Med to high

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): THS, Sport and Challenge patterns

Stats: 55 x 4 1/2 x 65 (pin in middle finger)
450 Rev Rate/16 Mph
PAP: 4 3/16 right by 1" up

COMMENTS

Likes: The Paradox gets through the fronts for me very clean in its OOB state but allows me to play various angles and zones on the lanes. I usually do not have a great deal of success with medium to high MB balls but this ball has definitely changed my mind. The cover matches up to most med-high volume patterns and for my rev rate and ball speed (450/16Mph) allows me to play in portions of the lane where I would have to trick it up some to get a ball of this strength to work well. I cannot say enough positive things about how good this ball really is for me. I've been critical of many of the higher MB balls in the past that they would not match up for me for very long whether it was league or tournament conditions. The Paradox has shown me how good it is for my game. I am looking forward to drilling another one and shining it for a little more length and pop down lane.

Dislikes: IF anything this ball needs some sort of head oil to get down the lane, other than that this ball has the IT factor me and will always be in my bag.

Volume:medium

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc):THS and Bear pattern

COMMENTS

Likes:This ball will be of the year! This the most versatile high end ball i have ever thrown. The continuation is unreal. Everyone deserves to have one of these in their bag. I have polished a couple of them for customers and it rolls great that way to so don't be afraid to adjust the coverstock.

This ball should be called the Para-WOW.     :-* :-*

Truly was a savior for me this past summer during the ladies tour as I used it on multiple different conditions.  SUPER versatile!

44’ London
Used my High Pin Paradox with 500 on fresh. Playing around 13 at the arrows keeping it pretty tight. Lower pin up Paradox was a good transition ball.
This ball allowed me to keep my angles closed down and control the pocket. It was a heavier pattern so the surface at 500 allowed the ball to read the lanes and still conserve some energy.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
40’ Athens
High Pin Paradox with 1000 on the fresh playing straight around 5-7 at the arrows. A few feet shorter so I could use the same Paradox as London but move my angles from the pocket a little bit. The cover/core combination gave me the confidence that this ball would go through the pins and carry!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

35’ flat pattern
Gutter didn’t play all that great so I had to play closer to the track area.  We drilled a pin axis Paradox that gave me some room for error so to speak - the tamer pin did just that - it tamed the backend reaction down with it being such a short pattern.  But since the ball is strong overall it was still able to go through the pins!

Absolutely LOVE this ball!!!

PARADOX IS A BALL THAT HAD A LOT OF HYPE ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND I WILL TELL YOU IT MET EVERY PART. THIS BALL IS YOUR ONE, TWO AND THREE PUNCH BALL. THIS BALL HAS PLENTY OF CONTINUATION DOWN LANE AND THRU THE PINS NOT SURE THAT IF QUITS IN THE BALL RETURN. THIS BALL IS EASY TO READ AND IS VERY FORGIVING AT THE BREAK POINT. THIS IS A MUST FOR A ANY BOWLER TO HAVE IN THEIR BAG.

Ball Review – Track Paradox

**Note – I have not had the chance to work an EBI Demo Day with the Bowler I.D. Software so I do not know my bowler stats, all descriptions of my game will be based on general observations

I would describe myself as having average ball speed (roughly 15 MPH, sometimes a touch lower) with a slightly above average rev rate, I am very up the back of the ball but working on being able to get my hand around the ball easier and more effortlessly.  I do prefer to hook the ball and am very comfortable getting in deep, however I can play straight too if the lanes call for it.

The Paradox from Track is one of those special releases that just has that it feeling to it, similar to the Black Widow, HyRoad, Inferno, etc. from year's past.  Often times when I like the motion of a ball I'll drill a second one as a compliment so I can attack a greater range of lane conditions with that similar motion.

The first Paradox I drilled was pin under Middle Finger with the MB two inches right of my center line, with a low weighthole and kept at box finish.  This layout and surface combination gives me all the hook I need on fresh house patterns and longer challenge patterns, but with the relatively weaker pin placement I know that I can't move too far left or else the ball will use up too much energy getting back to the pocket.

The second Paradox I drill was pin over and a touch right of Ring Finger with the MB two inches right of my center line, no weighthole, and was initially thrown at box finish but then later hit with 800 and polished with Powerhouse Factory Finish.  While this ball was at box finish (500-2000 abralon) I saw a slightly cleaner motion through the fronts compared to the first Paradox with more energy retention for the backend, this allowed me to move my feet in a little more and open up my angles for when the first Paradox started to burn up.  After hitting the surface with 800 and Factory Finish I saw even more push through the fronts but because of the stronger base grit and coverstock (800 compared to most balls being 2000 or 4000 grit underneath the polish) there was still enough grab in the midlane to prevent the ball from squirting downlane.  This is a motion that I can use on fresher medium length and volume patterns, as well as some longer patterns on beaten up surfaces, as well as when the lanes start to transition and I can open up my angles considerably.  (I will be trying a third surface on this Paradox, I will hit the ball with 2000 and Factory Finish polish, but then will use a fresh 4000 grit pad to burn some of the polish off, this should allow me to maintain some of the push from the polish but using 2000 as the base grit instead of 800 will prevent the ball from reading the midlane TOO much without sacrificing too much backend...also, this will prevent some potential overlap from when I drill my Black Widow Limited)

In conclusion, I cannot praise the power and versatility of this ball enough, whether pin up or pin down, sanded or polished, this ball gives strong predictable motion on a wide variety of lane conditions to a wide variety of styles.  Young and old, fast and slow, higher and lower rev rates, all can find a spot in their bag for this beast.  With unexplainable hook and power on the heaviest of oil patterns, this ball truly is a must have.

Thank you!
Just because you can, doesn't mean you should

LANE CONDITION

Length:

Volume:

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc):  THS, Chameleon, modified THS

COMMENTS

Likes: I delayed my review on this ball until I have about 6 weeks of experience with it on multiple conditions.  I first used it in box condition on a chameleon pattern with great results the first set.  However on two subsequent outings it seemed to lose its look a bit to the point my older Black Widow out performed it.  I also tried it on a couple of different house shots and carry was terrible.  Finally I took it to 4000 and added some polish.  This really brought the positives in this ball out for me.  I first used it on an old anvil lane house shot and my carry was very good when I moved inside quickly.  Then used it on a modified house shot ( extra load or two from 2 to 2 ).  OB outside 8 board, but still plenty in the middle, made it play like an old inside track shot.  Carry was great again.  With the new surface condition, I was still my strongest finishing ball inside, and faced up much better than my Black Widow Legend that I had been relying on for many inside patterns.

Dislikes:  Not good for me in box condition on any pattern I encountered.  Part of problem is probably my lower speed, low RPM stroker style.

Review:
This ball is quite strong and provides extra continuous motion thru the pins. For me, it works best on fresh where control is typically needed on higher volumes of oil. I have two drilled up, pin down and pin up. The pin up provides more kick in the back end versus the pin down. I would say the pin up has about 2-3 more boards of hook. It gets down the lane easier of the two drillings but turns harder. For league it's my go to ball. The pin down is optimal on patterns where you don't want to feed it to the outside. A great choice for sport patterns where the angles need to be straighter. Both ball are out of box finish. I hit them with a 2000 pad on occasion to keep the surface fresh.

LANE CONDITION

Wanted 2 w/the same motion down lane. Drilled a pin up and a pin down version. Pin up drilled 50 x 5-1/4 x 35  Pin down is 50 x 5 x 70. The ball is everything they say it is. I polished the pin down from box finish with magic shine. It made the ball playable and I still had the same motion and hitting power. The surface is 100% tweakable. This s the best dull ball I have ever thrown. I was amazed at how clean it is upfront.

I tried the Paradox at a Demo day a few days ago on a THS.
I have a rev rate slightly under 400 with minimal axis tilt and rotation and consider myself a power/tweener.

Length:40 ft

Volume:24ml

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc):THS
The demo balls are all drilled with the pin up above the bridge and the Mass bias straight under the thumb to accommodate left or Rt handed bowlers.
This is the hardest hitting ball I've ever thrown. I threw 12 different balls from 4 different companies. Track, Columbia, Hammer and Ebonite. The Paradox hit the hardest of them all. It had a loud "crunch" when it hit the pins and they all went straight back. The ball finished between the 8 and 9 pins consistently. I did leave a few stone 9 pins from this balls raw power.
You must keep the Paradox in the oil. It wasn't a bank it off the gutter type of ball. It's a keep it in the oil and feed it into the dry a little and watch it destroy pins.
The OOB finish is very strong so in most cases I would think tuning the surface will be a must. Most House conditions don't have enough oil to contain this beast for more than a game unless you have a lot of ball speed. And at 17.5 -18 mph I don't throw it slow.
I threw it next to the Columbia Swerve and they are very different in how they hit. The Swerve has more pins dancing around the pin deck while the Paradox just deposits them into the pit extremely fast. Not sure how else to describe it. after throwing 8 crushing strikes in a row with this ball there were about 10 people behind me with their mouths open waiting for me to give it up so they can try it. It takes a lot to impress me and this ball did it. It's a game changer on heavier conditions.

LANE CONDITION

Length:40-46ft

Volume: Heavy to Extremely Heavy

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc):Sport

COMMENTS

Likes:This ball gives me versatility on heavier volumes that I have not had with too many bowling balls. I have a weaker drilling on this ball and I am glad I do because I would not get to throw it too often otherwise. This past weekend I bowled the Bradley Open on one of the most demanding patterns and certainly the highest volume patterns I have ever seen and was able to throw the Paradox some on the fresh. I had hit the cover with 500 grit abralon to help fight the heavy volume and was able to throw it for a couple of games before needing to ball down. Out of box this ball was versatile on house patterns as well as medium to long sport patterns.

Dislikes: The ball does not quit hooking for me, I do not get much opportunity to throw this on league shots because the ball continues hooking and I lose carry.

What can be said about this ball that hasn't been said already?  I truly believe that this ball could be re-released every year and be in the contention for 'ball of the year' each time.

It continues to produce and you can see that with the number of PWBA members you see making the step-ladder(S) THIS season using the Track Paradox.

Very strong, so you'll need a bit of volume to use this one for long periods of time .. but when you can find a way to keep this one in your hand, you'll be happy you decided to give it a try.

Track has a major winner on their hand with this ball and I think a lot of the bowling world would agree with that thought.

How does the Paradox compare to the original Ebonite Gamebreaker?
