Got my new toys!!
« on: September 28, 2005, 11:45:20 AM »
I was very excited when I got home today and saw the FedEx truck pull up behind me. He came walking out of the truck with a 32 pound, double ball box. I took the box from him and ran upstairs with it. I opened it up to see my two new toys, a Rule Delta 1 and an Arsenal Reactive!! OOOOhhhhh Yeeaaaahhhhh!!!

Now I need to drill these bad boys up!! Please suggest drill patterns for these two balls. I want them to fit in line right under my GP2 but above my Blue Heat. I figured the top 4 balls would go GP2, Delta 1, Arsenal Reactive then Blue Heat. That sound right to you??

Specs on the ball are as follows:

Delta 1 - 15 lbs 2 oz, 2.5 oz tw and a 3" pin
Reactive - 15 lbs 3 oz, 3 oz tw and a 2" pin

BTW, I am not sure exactly what my PAP is. It seems everytime that I want somebody to measure it, they either have a hard time doing so or dont do it correctly!

Rock, glad to hear you got them buddy.  I would suggest drilling the Rule Delta 1 close to your GP2 with the pin under ring and the mb on the VAL, to give you a different look than the gp2 when the lanes have some oil on them.  Throw it first then add the x hole depending on how you like the reaction.  On the reactive I would say drill it up with pin next to your ring and cg stacked which will be a bit more aggressive than your blue heat.

Gotta agree with the Ike'ster here...

Here is what my GP2 and Delta look like...

GP2 - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0703/128177/RamtartsBowlingBalls/GP2_Layout.jpg
Delta - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0703/128177/RamtartsBowlingBalls/delta1_b.jpg

The Delta is a monster on backends. This ball is covering as many boards as my GP2. Of course, the delta is a reactive, there is no turning back when this ball sniffs dry! Keep in mind I have the MB on the Delta in/near the strong position.

Good luck Ryan!

Rock I don't agree with this layout on your reactive.  If you put the pin closer to your pap on this ball compared to your pin under the ring on your gp2 you may have overlap.  Rock the arsenal reactive is a lot stronger than people think.  My reactive can handle the same amount of oil that my Animal can handle.  I kid you not.

If I were you and want this ball to be below your gp2 then put the pin under your ring or under the bridge and kick the cg right to 1oz.  Don't use an x-hole unles it's to tame the reaction.  Dude this ball is very strong with it's OOB cover.  Actually this ball is very strong polished.

Mine is polished like a marble with magic shine(looks cool).  Mine is drilled with pin above ring but real close to bridge (5" from pap).  The cg is kicked right to almost 1oz no x-hole.  On a true med/heavy shot this ball still hooks a ton and has a monster backend.  A lot stronger than people think.

You have heard the comparison's to the AI.  I feel the ball motion is close but not the strength.  The reactive is by far more powerful.  This is becoming my favorite ball.  Hope this helps you bud!

Thanks Chi and others.

I am hoping Tenpinspro, EX, Clint or AChappy will chime in on this soon. I want their input as well.

With the Delta, I would say drill it similar to your GP2 for a few reasons. 1. The reactive cover will help it get further down the lane. 2. The backend of the Delta is AWESOME, and thus the 2 will be different enough for you to see the difference. As for the Arsenal Reactive, it is a LOW rg ball, and thus really like to want to roll early. I tell my customers, would you try fitting a square peg in a round hole? NO, So drill it to emphasize what the ball was made to do...roll early. A GREAT drill that is working for me is this....pin tucked under your fingers, cg kicked out, add a weight hole which you can target after drilling. My GP2 EXPLODES the pins drilled like this.....but I am sure the others will have ideas as well!

Actually, most of these balls will only get use about twice a month as they are all tournament and drilled condition specific for me. At the house I normally bowl in, I dont see anything more than a medium pattern. Usually my Voodoo is plenty of ball here.

Clint, so on the Reactive, are you suggesting a pin under bridge, cg out under ring finger type drill. I have used that drill before and really liked it. Let me know if thats what you were implying.

Rock77--Now that makes sense.  Even in most tourneys I never see enough volume to use this type of equipment and stacked leverage layouts are to much over/under for me.  Good luck with your new stuff Rock!

Hey Rock,

On the Delta, I'd suggest on letting this bad boy show you it's backend strength so I do not recommend placing it on your val or to drill it for early roll like your GP.  Be very careful, the mb strength is "very" high and has quite a bit of influence.  Placing it too close to pap will really make it pull, more then any Track ball you've had in the same position.  I suggest pin over ring and the mb in a strong position to have some separation from your GP (earliest hooking).

The Reactive can be drilled like you think, pin under with cg out right some is fine.  That will also give it a different look compared to your Blue Heat which is 1:00-1:30 under ring, right?  The reasoning behind my suggestions are to offer you different reactions since you have a few pieces that can handle about the same amount of oil but now we can have the following:

1) GP for heavy oil - early roll
2) Delta 1 Med/heavy - length with strong backend
3) Arsenal Reactive Med/heavy to med/med oil for earlier roll and controlled backend
4) Blue Heat Med/heavy to med/med for length and good backend

I just drilled D Pats last nite and I changed his suggested layout (early roll) to keep the mb in a strong position because he also had it too close to pap.  The ball still has plenty of grab but it just opened up the backends for him like no tomorrow (he loves Track again).  Just ask him.....he couldn't miss, actually, he missed but the ball couldn't miss...

I like Rick's idea for the Delta as well!

Yes, I was suggesting pin under bridge, cg kicked as you describe. Rick seems to like it as well.
