In my opinion, if you are going to try to play the twig, you need something with some control for a drill. The ball will be strong enough on its own to help turn the corner. I would not want anything with a flippy reaction, which leads be to want something with the pin under the fingers. I would go pin under you ring...about 4 inches from PAP, mass bias swung out toward your VAL. Here is my reasoning. Pin under ring gives you control, earlier roll to smooth the ball/backend out compared to a pin above your fingers. Swing the mass bias out towards your VAL gives you early roll as well, cut down on the backend as well. The ball is strong enough to cover boards on the backend even with this drill..I had one Animal similar to this drill and it was a very nice reacting ball for the right condition.

However, I would like to see what everyone else has to say to see if I missed something obvious.

Also, with my drill, you are going to need an extra hole. You can use the ball without drilling the extra hole in practice...see what you think about the reaction it gives you...then drill the extra hole where you want to, and you could target drill the weight hole to adjust the reaction you are getting.

On edit...I would also try to knock off some Clean N Sheen with some 2000 grit sandpaper.

I like Clint's layout, but I have one concern.....true placing the MB on VAL is going to make the ball roll sooner and not snap as much in the backend, but with that pattern is the ball going to roll too soon? I would probably keep the pin between 4 - 4 1/2 inches from PAP under your finger line....and place the MB left of your thumb for a more controlled breakpoint.

Even with this type of layout you may have to adjust the surface accordingly. NATURALLY I would try it in box first to see what you get. Once you have done so, then let us know what you got and we could help suggest a surface. You may very well decide that you like what the Clean n Sheen finish OOB gives you.

As for which ball I would drill this way, it would depend.......I would probably pick the one that has the CG kicked slightly RIGHT of the PIN and MB line.....this way if you need to tweek reaction with a weighthole you can still keep your sideweight positive.
