5.0 mini review
« on: June 01, 2005, 02:00:14 PM »
all I can say is WOW. Used it tonight for the first time in my first night of sport league. I was amazed by how well the 5.0 revved up in the midlane. It outhooks the original X by 10 boards easy, but it's a different kind of hook. It's not as long, more of an earlier rolling hook that doesn't stop. I shot 233-180-226=639 on a sport shot where next high was 601. More reviews to come with more use ono yout THS!!

I drilled it exactly the same as my original X, pin above fingers, MB rt of thumb. Click the link in my sig to see pics!

hey, how about a little credit to the ball chucker???!!! It's not all the ball, it needs someone to put it in the proper place!!

This isn't Technically a sport shot, but it is this years ABC Championship pattern.

you dont get it man. it's a differnet kind of hook. much more early rolling tham the original, but it doesn't quit. This is the first 3 games I bowled with it. Next week, we get pattern A.

How does the X 5.0 compare to the Rule?  They have the same length and approximately the same hook ratings, so I'm wondering if it can be considered a Rule replacement.  I saw two pretty high-rev players using the X 5.0 on a THS and wow that ball just flies!

sorry saw the rack, but i disagree with you 100%. the sport/pba patterns are constantly changing, and they allow very minimal room for errors. i dont think it's possible to average over 210 on a REAL sport condition!

i'd say it's close to my rule, maybe a little more aggresive than my rule, but my rule is drilled for early roll!

Hey Rev-O would you say the 5.0 is "cranker friendly"?

Has anyone considered the fact that some "sport shots" can actually suit a bowler's game? This is the reason that most sport leagues end up changing patterns throughout the season.

REV,

10 boards is a pretty good area that the 5.0 should be above the Xception. Despite what some feel about that, the 5.0 was made to be stronger than the Xception. One thing that could be getting overlooked here is the fact that Track advertizes the 5.0 to be a "tournament" ball. So it should excel on sport conditions, as many of them are as difficult if not more difficult than tournament shots.

Let us know how it works for you on the THS.

Hey Rev
Nice shooting from the rest of us as always.
Just curious where the CG is and how the static weights came out on the Rule and the New X Ball.
thanks,

the CG is just above grip center, about 3/4" to the right. The pin in exactly above the top of the finger holes, and the MB is about 3/4" rt of the thumb. It weighed out at 1/2 side, 1/2 finger. I dont know when i'll get to throw it on the house shot since we are playing on different patterns all summer. More to come....

Hey Rev-O,

Sounds good, I'm getting about a 6-8 board difference from my 5.0 to the Xception.  Just relative to our overall hook.  So far I'm getting my best look when the heavier puddle is not present and the lane is more medium-ish.  It opens up the shot real well.  I also got the smooth reaction but strong continuation from it, a little hard to describe.  It's strong yet controllable is what I'm seeing....
