FWIW there's a review in the March issue of BTM (saw the digital issue).
Summary: strong skid/flip pearl for medium-light to medium oil.
But then "503A" says that anyway.  :D

In comparison, since it is an 03 instead of an 08, the ball should go a little farther down the lane but still be pretty angular.  Since they are both 5 series "A" balls, they will be close if you are looking to replace the 08 with the 03.  Just take the 03 and a little stronger layout should make it fairly close to the the 08.  I am kind of surprised that the 03 ball still has a .057 diff on it though.

not a huge fan of the 508a, should have figured as much with me not liking the 607 at all.
tried a longer pin on the 508 and more medium angles, just to conditional for my liking
508 doesn't seem to like surface change much either

Now, the 505a was a great piece

Dave,

I wasn't a huge fan of the 508A either....I was an even lesser fan of the 607A.  Crazy I know..a staffer doesn't like a ball but they can't all match up with someone.

Now the 503A is to me is MUCH closer to a 505A than anything.  Maybe even a tad bit cleaner.  In knowing my 503A's were going to arrive this past thursday I punched up a  505A I had just to compare.  Both layed out identical and they are VERY close.

Also so far in testing it's a perfect step down from my 706A which has been a great piece for me lately.

I cant say i have been able to match up with any of the "A" series in quite a while
505a was good while i was in 16lb equipment and that was a while ago
607, 508, not to great
because of that, the 706a was not on my radar
Now, I do have a 300a with a 2" pin-pap and that is super smooth and arcing

Im gonna wait until i see someone with the 503a before i go through that again
