503C....is this ball THAT good?
« on: November 11, 2011, 05:15:09 AM »
Maybe....got one from another lefty on here.

The thing impressed me another bowler in my house so much....lots of push, lots of midlane, lots of smoothness lots of hit!

Not used to seeing this level of controllability with such a shiny 4000 coverstock!

Could it be the drilling....approximately 65 X 5 X 40

Regards,

Luckylefty

PS all of this from a core that looks a lot like my Vital Sign core which is drilled similar and moves nothing like this ball...

We have several guys throwing the 503c at my house and although none are lefties all of them are very strong. Much stronger than I would believe advertised. Great midlane roll and very strong continues backend. We have new Murray mml synthetic lanes and use kegal highroad as our house shot. Highroad is a 44' pattern and the ball is remarkable on the fresh. Little slugish after a 4-5 person squad has bowled  but that's a decent amount of carry down.

I was considering this ball, as they claim you can play with the surface real easy. Can anybody else chime in on this piece?

Im liking my 505t and 505c combo
i dont see where this ball would be an additional benefit to me right now.
300c is a bit of a head scratch for me, I have re-drilled it, tried multiple surfaces.
It is over/under on THS with 4000ab although its close on the short sport we are on.
Its more of a conditional piece than anything else.

It seems to me that if one goes to Track's site and sees the 505c and the 503C on their videos the difference is obvious.

It is almost seems if one likes small differences for their league shot  for carry one could own both the 503c and 505c.

We have three bowlers on our team throwing the 503C, all different styles and releases.

All do very well with this ball and it can be used all night.

All three have seen an increase in average, hit is great.

@Dave18644:  Around here, the 300C is THE ball of choice to go to, on these varied broken down house shots, and in one house in particular.....on their regular house shot! It is smooth and predictable and carries well on a swing shot.

How much weaker is the 300T than the 503C?

Picked one up I cant put it down very smooth and the carry has been great. I might have to check in to some other track balls.

Lucky, maybe i can help you on this comparison. I personally have never thrown either ball but I work in a shop and have seen multiple people throwing them etc. Even though the 300T has the lower core numbers so forth, it still reacts much earlier and smoother than anything in the whole 5 series except the "T" ball of course. Coverstock is the main reason behind ball reaction.

I may be dead wrong when I say this, but it seems that the 503C is more of a pearl coverstock than the 300T, but if the 300T is shined up past 3-4K Abralon it sort of looks pearl as well. I think the biggest reason these two balls are so different is because one is "Asymmetrical and the other being Symmetrical". Im also thinking the 300T is a mix of solid and pearl makeing the move so much different downlane.

If you are trying to decide on one or the other, then just take a look at your arsenal and see if you would rather have something flippy or more rolly, because the 300T will be more on the rollier side no matter how you drill it... I think they both handle about the same amount of oil overall so its your call. Good Luck, John

The 503C is a reactive pearl (MP Gen 4C) 800/1000/2000/4000 w/ FF polish over but with .003 intermediate differential with that amount of differential is so negligible that it's asymmetry is small it can be treated as a symmetrical.  So, I would disagree that you would find much difference there.

The 300T is solid reactive (LMP Gen 1 Solid) 800, 1000, 2000, 4000 no polish.

Both will be good on medium lane conditions with the 503C better on lighter.  The 503C will get slightly more length than the 300T and the 300T slightly more total hook.
