505A VS KINETIC
« on: July 13, 2010, 09:59:58 AM »
How do these balls compare? What are the differences?? Which ball is more angular? Which ball will handle more oil?

From what I have seen the kinetic is rated for more oil but I am not sure about that... Are these the same ball??

I am looking for a medium dry to dry lane ball that will store energy and still be very angular on the backend...
not sure if the 505A is weak enough...

For me, the Kinetic is much more angular than the 505A.  I have both.  The Kinetic is drilled 5" x 4-1/2", 2" pin buffer, surface at 800 grit and polish.  505A is drilled 5-1/4" x 4-1/2", 2" pin buffer, surface at 800 grit and polish.  I added a weighthole 1-1/2" right of the thumb hole on the 505A.  The Kinetic has a much harder turn on the backend.  Not sure which one would handle more oil, as I've always kept both of them highly polished to play a more inside line.  These are most definitely not the same ball.

Thanks for the info..

I will most likely take the ball to 4000 abralon with polish.

What was the reason for the weight hole..?? What was the reaction before the weight hole ???

How does the shape of the hook change on dry lanes vs oily lanes with both balls..
I have no doubt that the balls will be a snappy beast on fresh oil with clean backends.. but does the ball just get smooth on dry lanes or does it still get down the lane and retain the snap on the backend??

I haven't used the Kinetic for a while.  I actually plan on pulling it out soon for my PBA Experience league, as we will get the Shark for the next 4 weeks.  The Kinetic will let me play inside and I know it will finish when it hits dry boards.  I don't normally use the 505A on a fresh shot, and I didn't use the Kinetic on a fresh shot when I was using it more frequently.  I like to use the 505A once the track area has dried up, and I need to move inside to find some head oil to get the ball down the lane.

As far as the weighthole on the 505A, I added it because I wasn't getting the angular backend reaction that I desired.  Once I added the weighthole, the backend was much more angular.

Hope this helps.  Let me know if you have any more questions.

got it.. so even with the hole in the 505A the kinetic is much more angular..
That is what I wanted to know..
sounds like it stays angular on broken down shots..
